Back In The Day
Oh, Taylor, you simply must try out the restaurant Harold took me to last night on our date. It’s a little place called Nostalgia 2012. Have you heard of it? I know you don’t like theme restaurants, but it is simply the most darling place ever! The whole experience is… Hold on. I’m getting some new status updates in my contact lenses. Oh! Mary’s just gone into labor! How wonderful!
Anyway, where was I? First of all, the whole place is done up to look like a restaurant from way back in 2012. None of the chairs or tables float. Crazy, right? All of the food is made fresh and not from a replicator. I know! The entire staff is even made up of real people, not robots or holograms, and they’re all dressed up in the archetypes of the period! They’ve got failed bankers, aging hipsters, and a few members of the old middle class struggling to make ends meet, the whole bit! They even make you pay with actual money, not genetic material! Here, check out some of the photos I took with my RetinaCam I’ve got here on my Forearm Display. Isn’t it the quaintest thing you’ve ever seen?
And the best part? They serve all the portions on these vintage Archos 10.1” 8GB Android Tablets. Yes, I totally just said “Android.” I hadn’t thought of that operating system since grade school, but each one runs Android 2.2! Can you believe it? You can even “surf the web” circa 2012 on the 10.1” diagonal screen in portrait or landscape mode after you’re done eating. And I’m serious when I say that these are the real deal from way back when. They’ve got full-sized USB connectors on the side for transferring files, outputs for the old HDTVs people used to have, Bluetooth, and access to classic apps through its AppsLib icon. Gosh, do you remember using apps? I felt like a kid again, I swear.
You must come with us the next time we transport over there. Invite that nice Hybrid from Orion VII you’ve been seeing. What’s his name again? Zy-Lom? Xy-Mol? Whatever. It’ll be a hoot!
