Eric’s Projection Project
“Eric, there’s something we need to talk about,” said Leanne. “I feel like, lately, you’re always projecting yourself onto me.”
“Be quiet and stand still, baby,” Eric said as he lined up his Optoma Home Theater Projector just where it needed to be to perfectly cast his image onto his wife. Today, he used the HD180, but it could just as easily been the HD20.
Eric had bought both of the two projectors, each on their own, the night his wife brought up the possibility of having children. At first, he pretended that the purchase had nothing to with Leanne’s thoughts on starting a family. “I just figured they would be fun to have,” he said. “They both feature native 1080p and 1700 ANSI lumens of brightness. That means they’ll be great for watching movies, cheering on our favorite sports teams, even playing games!”
But this was all a ruse. They wouldn’t be hooking up their Blu-ray player or their DVD Player or their PS3 to either Optoma through the HDMI, component, composite, or VGA slots. They wouldn’t be popping some popcorn on the stove and then sitting down to watch some Redbox dollar rental, its picture enhanced by the BrilliantColor™ technology.
No. Eric had been named “most attractive” in the superlatives section of his high school yearbook, and in doing so, had followed in his father’s footsteps, who had followed in his own father’s footsteps, and so on and so forth. They’d built a family tradition out of being good-looking and now the pressure was on Eric to produce a son capable of continuing it.
So when Leanne brought up children, Eric had to be sure that their features matched well enough. He felt a bead of sweat roll down his forehead as he adjusted the Optoma to bring his face into focus on Leanne’s. Any mismatched feature – her nostril too big for his nose, his ears too flat for her face – could be the end of everything they had together…
