Alright, look, I gotta talk fast before my boss walks back by here, so listen good: I noticed you checking out this Mio C310XR GPS unit and I had to say something. As a GPS unit, it’s mediocre. As in, the preloaded maps are from 2005. As in, you have to hook it up to a PC and get “new” 2007 maps off of the included CD. As in, it doesn’t work with Macs, Vista, or even IE7. If you really need GPS, and you’ve got an XP box and an aversion to spending money, I guess it’ll do. But the real reason to buy it is- aw, man, here comes my boss again, hang on -

OK, he’s gone. What I was saying was, this Mio thing’s real value is in hacking it. Nice solid hardware, decent 3.5” LCD screen…with a little know-how and the right tips and tricks, you can even load it with Windows CE and use it as a PDA. Of course, you’ll void the warranty if you do that. So you didn’t hear it from me, OK?
