Most people use these Lock & Lock storage containers to keep flavor in. I use them to keep flavor OUT.

It used to happen all the time. I’d sit down to a nice tepid bowl of leftover gruel, lift the spoon to my mouth, eager for a mouthful of that flavorless mush I’d enjoyed the night before – only to find that somehow, some way, a hint of flavor had crept in overnight! I didn’t spend two minutes mixing up grain and water because I like to taste things!

But thanks to these airtight, BPA-free Lock & Lock storage containers, I never have to worry about a flavor invasion ever again. They’re semitransparent, too, so on the off chance that some internal biological process disturbs the blandness I crave, I’ll be able to see evidence of it before I open the container. They’re only microwavable up to a point, which is fine because all I ever use my microwave for is to get cold gruel up to room temperature. But I do like that they’re safe for the freezer. I can make a big batch of gruel every two weeks and freeze it in individual servings!

Say what you will about pablum, but at least it’s not aggressive or controversial. Thanks to the Lock & Lock storage containers, my flavorless mush will go down easier than ever!
