I’ve always said it: my house is where mail comes to die. Those envelopes would have more luck going through a paper shredder than the slot in my front door, because as soon as they fall into the basket, I’m taking out my SOG, putting my thumb into the curved thumb rest, and going at those parcels with a 6.9” straight-edge blade. After I extracting the contents, I maim the envelope and pin it up where it can serve as a lesson to all those who try to follow in its path.
Why the aggression? Well, if you must know, it’s because of my pop. You see, when I was just a little boy, my pop worked in an envelope factory. Gave that place 10 hours every Monday to Friday. Every other Saturday too. Then, one day, some stacks of envelopes that’d been piled too high collapsed, nearly smothering him. The only way he survived was by eating his way out.
Well, consuming all that paper and all those adhesives, it did a number to my old man’s brain. He was never the same after that. Those envelopes, they ruined him. So when the mail man comes to my house, he’s not just bringing bills and letters. He’s bringing the enemy. He’s giving me a chance at revenge.
