The square shelf has a historical development completely opposite that of the wheel. When the wheel was first being invented, the inventor initially tried making it square. Finding that the corners of the square hindered the rolling process, he sanded them down into the shape now accepted as the most optimal for wheels.
Capitalizing on the success of the wheel, carpenters tried borrowing the wheel shape for structures they'd hang on their walls for the purpose of displaying their keepsakes. Finding that the precious heirlooms would just slide off the round shape and shatter on the ground, they sought a more effective shape for their "shelves" as they would come to be known.
And so, today we give you the Melannco Square Shelves. HISTORY!
