It's like the Borges story where the guy tries to write Don Quixote again. Except not really at all.

He wanted to design a device that could transfer his handwriting and doodles to a tablet or smartphone. So he picked up his aPen Digital Recording Wireless Pen and started making a few preliminary sketches.

He liked the way they looked, both on his sheet of paper and on his iPad. "I'm really onto something here," he thought. Then something else occurred to him and so he jotted down, "Device should also work on regular paper with standard ink."

He made page after page of notes. In fact, when all was said and done, he had recorded 100 pages on the aPen's receiver, each one scrawled with notes like "make app free to download on the Apple app store," and "must be able to record 100 pages on receiver."

Now, all he had left to do was come up with a name. He looked around his workspace, searching for inspiration. Finally his eyes landed on the pen in his hand.

"aPen Digital Recording Wireless Pen," he said to himself. "That sounds perfect!" And he wrote it down.
