Good little tent but no rear window
By Bill on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2016
This is a cost effective option for a decent backpacking tent IF you realize up front that you need to waterproof it before use. Every tent I own, from the cheap ones made in China to the high dollar tents, has needed waterproofing before taking it out camping. I strongly recommend "Atsko Silicone Water Guard" as it's the BEST one out there that actually works. When you're applying the spray, you can actually see that it's bonding with the tent material as the tent begins to lose its transparent see-thru look. Pay special attention to spraying your stitched seams as well as you do the rest of the tent and you won't need separate seam sealer. You can find Atsko here on Amazon, but I pick mine up at Walmart for half the price and in a 13.125 oz can. I love the classic design of this tent and the fact that it packs down into a small enough package to stow in a backpack. (Even my smaller sized packs will hold this tent) Mine did not come with the rear window even though the box clearly says it has a "zippered/screened back window", which is a bummer because you need that window for ventilation in the warmer weather. I've even used this style of tent in the winter snow and stayed dry and warm. If you really want to improve this tent from the get-go, chuck the cheesy stakes and stretchy, cheap cords that come with all tents these days and replace them with good sturdy stakes and paracord for the tie-outs. (I use the stainless steel heavy duty stakes that Wally World sells for 48 cents each. You'll need 10 of them.) This is the 3rd tent of this style that I've bought over the years simply because they work extremely well if prepped right, are lightweight and pack down small. If possible, I do like to set up an overhead tarp just to keep the sun from turning this baby into a sweatbox in the warm months and add an extra layer of rain protection just in case. Like all tents I've ever owned, a little tweaking, waterproofing and common sense care during use and you'll enjoy this tent for a long time.

keep that zipper net closed at all times and you are fine. Easy to set up
By Damon Bonnell on Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2015
The tent was quaint and did the job it was supposed to. For the money and since I needed a tent in a jiffy, it did the trick. It is very cheap but not cheaply made, or at least no cheaper than any quick camping pup tent. It kept the damp out, and kept the bugs off me. Yes, keep that zipper net closed at all times and you are fine. Easy to set up. Easy and light to carry. The only problem I had, and had I really understood this I would have gotten a bigger tent, was that the old green "army" pup tent that I grew up with was by far larger than this, and admittedly my memory was/is foggy. The problem is this. The tent I was expecting (again, my problem with paying attention to dimensions) would have been large enough to stand up in crouched over at least. A back window (screened of course) to help airflow. This tent was perfectly serviceable in the use to which I put it, but I could not sit up inside of it. It is really a triangle sleeping bag. Laying down I was perfectly comfortable sleeping, and really that was all I wanted it for. But when I awoke I had to kinda squish shimy around to get to the front, and getting in and out was like tunnling into blankets. Ever crawl headfirst into a zipped up sleeping bag? Not much more room in this. So if you have only the need for a place to sleep that is relatively dry (totally in my case, did great) and keeps the bugs off of you, but no need to store anything but sleeping bag, pillow, a few things here or there (small bags, think carry on) this is fine. If you want to have any room at all this is not for you. At all. It is embarrassingly small if you had a friend climb in then told them you used it for 5 days like I did. Again, I was dry, I had no bugs on me. But getting out is like being born. Not really, but you are getting the idea perhaps. I still like the idea of having this one, to put somewhere small or safe in a different camping environment. I particularly like small places to sleep in. But if you want to have 2 people inside like it claims...yeah, I guess it is technically possible, but make no mistake, it is totally not possible to use it in this way. One person cheap quick sleeping arrangement. I do not like these big overdone american camping tents. But if you are looking for a nice simple pup tent, get something bigger.
