An important part of any pro accessory setup

The Magic Keyboard case transforms the iPad Pro into a laptop-like device with a sleek design, keyboard shortcuts, and a trackpad. It simplifies life by eliminating the need for multiple devices and offers a detachable screen for tablet-like use: Having owned several iPad Pros, I can confidently assert that the Magic Keyboard case is an exceptional accessory that transforms the iPad Pro into a remarkably close relative of the MacBook. Several years ago, Apple introduced a significant OS change that redefined the iPad’s identity, positioning it more akin to a laptop rather than a mobile phone. This transformation, coupled with the development of the Magic Keyboard, effectively enables users to repurpose their iPad into a laptop-like device. During my extended hospital stays and subsequent back surgery recovery, I frequently utilized the Magic Keyboard case with my iPad Pro. Numerous individuals have complimented me on the appearance of a “cool computer” or “cool laptop” due to its laptop-like design. While I cannot fully encapsulate the transformative impact of this case in a review, I strongly advise against opting for an inexpensive Bluetooth keyboard from a different brand. While these keyboards may provide some functionality, they lack the aesthetic appeal and seamless integration of the Magic Keyboard. The Magic Keyboard case offers a comprehensive range of features, including keyboard shortcuts, a trackpad, a backlit keyboard, and fast responsiveness. It has been streamlined from its initial model, resulting in a sleek and durable device. The case’s left-side port allows for convenient charging of the iPad, ensuring that it remains powered up even when the charging cable is positioned on the left side. In my opinion, the Magic Keyboard case significantly simplifies one’s life by eliminating the need to carry multiple devices, such as a laptop, iPad, and iPhone. For those who require the full processor power of a MacBook or MacBook Pro, there is no substitute. However, for the majority of users, the iPad with the Magic Keyboard case provides an all-in-one solution that effectively fulfills their computing needs. Envision a MacBook with a detachable screen, allowing you to hold and play it like a tablet. This is essentially what you gain with the addition of this feature. I would also recommend the Apple Pencil Pro, or its corresponding version for your device. Ensure you select the appropriate version, as there are different models that correspond to previous iPad Pro iterations. While some versions may fit various iPad Pros, it is advisable to choose the one that best matches your device for optimal performance. Be aware that some individuals may mistakenly insert and click the device, believing it to be a single component. However, there are actually three or four, possibly more, versions available, depending on the year of purchase and the device’s size. Some years have multiple sizes available.

BE CAREFUL

June 3, 2025 I went to the Apple store yesterday to finally see why the thin horizontal line running across the iPad 13 M4 screen remained on my iPad 13 M4 screen from the day I received, and it would not go away. At the Apple Store with my iPad 13 M4 order from Amazon: the Apple technician said it was HIGHLTY UNLIKELY that my “new” iPad 13 M4 was new—that it was NOT actually new and but had been repackaged given the specifics below. The Apple technician told me this disappointing news based two pieces of information: 1) The line on the iPad 13 M4 screen from the day I received it—should NEVER have been there—that Apple’s oversight would never have allowed that —had I bought straight from Apple their oversight would never have allowed that. 2) The special cloth that should have been included for the NANO screen was NOT in the box. I did not even know that I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED ONE in the box. I do believe I was duped. I am ever so disappointed/angrywith Amazon for sending me an expensive iPad that evidentally had prior usage and lacked the specific NANO screen cleaner, an essential for keeping the NANO screen clean. Amazon sold me my iPad 13 M4 as new, it was NOT. I do trust the APPLE STORE. I made a huge mistake to not go there to buy my iPad.

I tried to resist but this is the best keyboard for the IPad Pro 13 M4

Pros: -Specifically designed for the IPad Pro 13 M4 (in this case I think Apple made the best accessory for the product they intended it for, this is NOT like the fine woven case for an iPhone. It’s quality) -Aesthetically and functionally sleek (I find the Magic Keyboard to be the best looking keyboard for the IPad, the new aluminum palm rest is choice) -Stable weight for desk or lap use (Logitech keyboard needs too much space, not lap use friendly and I don’t see what they say about this set up being top heavy) -Backlit keys (same as previous models, I don’t feel the need to customize my keyboard) -No battery, it’s powered through the IPad (IMO very handy compared to charging an extra device and having to carry an extra chord) -Light weight compared to the feel of other cases, the weight is what I would expect from a big Ipad such as this -Ease of setup (you basically place the IPad on and it’s set up) Cons: -Expensive ($350, “you get what you pay for” which is everything I could have asked and more) -No case (I personally don’t use my IPad without the Magic Keyboard so this does not apply to me) -Protection is nonexistent (I only use my set up at home and I have small kids, I’m still not worried about the protection with the way I use it. The IPad stays on the keyboard very well, I don’t travel with it so I’m not worried about drops. I tried resisting the Magic Keyboard by going for the ESR Rebound Keyboard case for $100. I loved it but it was missing what I was used to on the older Magic Keyboard and after much debate and research I returned it and purchased this Magic Keyboard. When I first put this to use, the best upgrade I feel like they had was the aluminum palm rest. It feels nice to the touch and smooth. The haptic trackpad too is just quality. I love the function row although I have to get used to having it. I’m so glad to have the Magic Keyboard for my new IPad Pro 13 M4. It feels and works as it should. It’s just right. If you’re still in debate I say just do it. It’s so worth it. The money put down for this keyboard is worth it for the use and time I will be spending with it, also it’s on sale right now for $299 or you can get an open box/refurbished one for only slightly cheaper. Here’s to another 5 or more years with this set up!
Incredible keyboard case

This basically turns your iPad into a laptop. The keys are only 2% less sturdy than standard laptop keys. The case itself is metal on the inside just like a MacBook but has a nice rubber ring around the keyboard that keeps that metal from rubbing on the screen so it is still protected. It's also incredibly thin. The iPad Pro is the thinnest tablet there is and somehow this keyboard is fully featured and half as thin as the iPad itself. The keys are backlit which makes it easy to work in the dark and there's a nice function row. The viewing angles you can adjust it to are perfect. The magnet is very powerful but you can easily pull the iPad off the case whenever you want to use it as a tablet which I really never do now that I have this case. In fact, you can easily use this as a laptop if you have a desktop or another laptop at home and just want to use a remote desktop application to remote into your other compter(s). There is also a nice feature where the hinge of the case has a charging port so that you can use the Thunderbolt port of the iPad itself to have accessories like external drives plugged in while also keeping the iPad on a charger. You cannot go wrong with this. It is quite expensive but definitely worth it. I was skeptical when I saw the price but once I had it I totally understood the value.
The best iPad keyboard got even better!

Attached is a picture of my 13” M4 iPad Pro, taken right before I typed up this review. The case never comes off my iPad. I don’t want to write a long soliloquy about the keyboard, as most of you already know what it’s all about. I’d like to highlight the main differences: 1) The aluminum construction is bliss! The keyboard feels cool to the touch, even after long typing sessions, especially on the meaty parts of your hands that rest on the touchpad while you are typing. 2) The touchpad… omg, it’s glorious!!! How they were able to make it even larger, with a great tactile feel with the haptic wizardry that makes you believe you’ve actually pressed a button when using the touchpad, is beyond me. I love it, and it’s one of the many shining stars with this keyboard. 3) The function key row: much needed and well laid out. I am not a fan of the volume button on the iPad itself, and they swapped the up and down for volume, and I am a creature of habit and kept hitting the wrong one. Instead of breaking that habit, I decided to force myself to learn to use the vol up and down on the keyboard instead, and it works great. The function keys are very responsive and it’s nice to not have to leave what you are doing to adjust brightness or volume… or to just skip a song and keep typing away. 4) The keycaps and switches are a little different compared to the original keyboard. There’s a little, maybe 1mm, more travel with each keystroke, with a familiar click with each keystroke akin to MacBook keyboards. I like the change, and my typing speed is as good, if not better on the new keyboard. 5) Weight: Feels a smidgeon heavier, but tbh, I am already used to how the M1 12.9 iPad Pro plus apple keyboard weigh, so I don’t notice a difference. When I am on the go, the iPad is in my backpack, so I don’t feel the additional weight. This is another home run by Apple. I already spent an arm and a leg on a 2Tb 13” iPad Pro, so I knew I had to keep the functionality of the Apple Keyboard. I love it dearly, and would never think to use an iPad without it. I have a Mac Mini for my desktop needs, but the iPad Pros have replaced my need for a MacBook. The Apple Keyboard is really expensive, comparatively, but it’s fit and finish, not to mention is superb functionality, make this worth it, in my book. 10\10, would highly, highly, highly recommend!

I had a MacBook Pro so I was quite aware of how great the trackpads are on Apple products. I decided to fork over the $300+ for this just for that reason. I had bought some cheap keyboard and trackpad case at first and it was so bad I couldn’t even use it. The iPad Pro 13 in is very awkward and not exactly fun to hold. I feel like it’s too thin. Makes it feel very fragile. The Magic Keyboard came,, and I was immediately a fan of it the minute I tried it out. Touchpad is incredible, keyboard is great. Great design. Feels like I’ve got a MacBook. My only complaint is that it can be a little buggy sometimes but that’s more the iPad infrastructure vs MacOS which I’m more used to. Trying to use gestures to open and close apps is annoying compared to just clicking on the yellow minus it red x on MacOS. It having the M4 chip even before Apple released a Macbok with one, the iPad Pro should have more of a computer or desktop I infrastructure vs a 100% tablet OS.. kinda limits what you can do on it. But this is a must have if you own an iPad Pro. You are not getting the full experience if you do not have the Magic Keyboard.
Probably Apple’s Best KB Effort So Far

Purchased this KB a couple of weeks ago and it is a pleasure to use. Has allowed me to have more of a laptop experience using my iPad Pro. However, there are few minor issues. 1. The outside edge of the KB is quite sharp where the seams come together so handle with care. 2. The KB’s USB-C power port rotates when the lid of the KB is being closed stressing the attached power cord. 3. Also considering the cost this KB the port should have included data transfer as well as power. In reality though these are minor issues compared to the quality of this KB and its ease of use. Not sure if the price can be justified but if you have the extra funds likely you will not be disappointed. I really enjoy the fact this KB does not depend on a Bluetooth connection - so no wake up delays if you pause typing for a while - no tap tap tap to reconnect. All key strokes are accurately recorded immediately on your document from the first moment you begin typing. Very nice…

As a solutions architect who frequently works from home and on the go, having a reliable and functional keyboard case for my iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) is essential. The Apple iPad Magic Keyboard Case has exceeded my expectations in many ways, providing a great typing experience and enhancing my productivity. First and foremost, the typing experience on this keyboard is exceptional. The keys are well-spaced, and the tactile feedback is satisfying, making typing comfortable and efficient. The addition of a function row is a fantastic feature, allowing quick access to essential controls and shortcuts, which has significantly improved my workflow. The built-in trackpad is another standout feature. It is highly responsive and accurate, making navigation seamless and efficient. This functionality transforms the iPad Pro into a more versatile device, bridging the gap between a tablet and a laptop. The trackpad supports multi-touch gestures, which are intuitive and enhance the overall user experience. The case itself is well-built and sturdy, providing excellent protection for the iPad Pro. The magnetic attachment is strong, ensuring that the iPad is securely held in place while also allowing easy removal when needed. The workmanship is superb, as we've come to expect from Apple, with a sleek and professional design that complements the iPad perfectly. One of the most appreciated aspects of this keyboard case is its portability. Despite its robust construction, it is relatively lightweight and does not add significant bulk to the iPad. This makes it ideal for carrying around, whether I am working from my home office, at a client site, or on the road. The backlit keys are another great feature, allowing me to work comfortably in low-light conditions. This has been particularly useful during late-night work sessions or when traveling. The battery life of the keyboard is impressive, and I love that I can charge it via USB-C. Moreover, it wirelessly charges the iPad at the same time, which is incredibly convenient and reduces the need for multiple cables. The connectivity is seamless, with the keyboard and trackpad pairing instantly with the iPad Pro without any issues, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted workflow. However, there are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, there is no secure storage for my Apple Pencil Pro, which is inconvenient given its importance for many tasks. Additionally, the design of the case does not allow the iPad to fully open and flip to lay flat with the keyboard on the backside, a basic feature found in many folio-style cases. This means I cannot use the iPad flat on a surface without detaching it from the keyboard, which limits the versatility of the case. Another significant downside is the cost. While the quality and functionality of the Magic Keyboard are excellent, the value for the money is not. The cost of this keyboard case is exorbitant compared to other keyboard folio-style cases on the market. Apple should really reconsider the pricing moving forward to make it more accessible. In summary, the Apple iPad Magic Keyboard Case for the iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) is an outstanding accessory that enhances the functionality and versatility of the iPad. With its great typing experience, built-in trackpad, function row, superb workmanship, seamless connectivity, and convenient charging features, it is a valuable investment for professionals and anyone looking to maximize their productivity with an iPad. Highly recommended for those who want a high-quality, reliable keyboard case, despite its few shortcomings and high cost!
A Pricey Must Have

I am upgrading from the prior iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and decided to go ahead and get the Magic Keyboard again with my new iPad. Personally, I really like the Magic Keyboard even though it’s ridiculously expensive, doesn’t add much protection, and (at least the prior generation) didn’t have a premium feel. I always use my iPad with the Magic Keyboard so it’s worth the investment to me. This new Magic Keyboard is a lot nicer, mostly due to the larger trackpad and aluminum inside, however I wish the outside was a leather or better material as it’s still the soft touch Apple Watch band feeling rubber that stains and shows scratches over time. I love the typing experience, new haptic touchpad, additional function keys, and backlit keys. I haven’t had any issues with the keys or any inputs not being registered. There is only one main issue, which is that the setup is very top heavy. It’s fine on a desk or a hard flat surface, but is almost unusable on your lap or on a bed or couch and it’ll either tip over when you move or wobble when you touch it. I like to lay in bed with it propped on my stomach and I have to keep a hand on the keyboard at all times or hold it from the back to keep it from toppling over. An issue I don’t have with my MacBook. I don’t think it was this pronounced with my prior 11” model so I’m not sure if it’s just moving up in size or the redesign, but either way it does give this 13” setup some limitations for it being comfortably usable. I’m not sure how it could be remedied as the keyboard itself weights a good bit on it’s own so if you add more weight to it, it starts to defeat the purpose of being a portable tablet over a laptop. In conclusion, there are a few issues that may keep you from wanting to spend this much money on a keyboard that isn’t perfect, but I know what the Magic Keyboard is capable of, its limitations, and the fact that the last one I had never gave me a single issue so it’s worth the money to me to pair the new iPad Pro with its proper keyboard to have full functionality of the device.
Must have item for an iPad Pro but one small problem....

Who else had been waiting for the new iPad Pro to come out? Who else hadn't upgraded their iPad since 2018? Well that was me. Was waiting for this M4 iPad to release since the rumors came out and I was first in line to tell Apple to shut up and take my money. With any new iPad Pro, the Magic Keyboard is almost a must have accessory, in order to fully get the most out of your new iPad. Do I love the price tag? Of course not, but it's what people call the "Apple Tax". But once you get the Magic Keyboard in hand, you realize what a special piece of hardware it is. The trackpad is much larger than the previous iteration, making it more akin to the MacBook Pro. The addition of the new function row is much needed as well. The aluminum build gives it a more premium feel and again, more akin to working on a MacBook. And the case gives your iPad much needed protection when carrying it to and from wherever you are going. So why only 4 Stars? There is a bit of a design issue where the hinge of the Magic Keyboard doesn't really sit flush on a table when opened up fully, and since the iPad is a touch screen, when you go touch the screen, the iPad wobbles a bit. It's not a total fail, but it can be a little annoying at times. Knock off 1 star because of this potential design flaw. All in all, if you spent the 1K plus to get an iPad Pro, this $350 dollar accessory is almost a must if you want to unlock the full power of this beautiful hardware.
