Coolblus 8500 BTU A019KA-05KR-02 Portable Air Conditioners (Open Box)

I bought this for my son’s bedroom. Although we have central AC, his bedroom is above the garage and doesn’t cool like the rest of the house. Our HOA also does not allow window air conditioners. I unboxed it exactly as I was supposed to, and read all the reviews and hints. It was difficult to set up. The directions were in some wonky English translation and didn’t make much sense, but I’m handy and was able to sit down and figure it out. I was surprised during installation that you have to actually cut the plastic with a hand saw to get it to fit a standard window. Luckily, I had one and was able to do a clean job but I was thinking it would be really difficult for people who don’t have a garage full of tools… It ran well the first night and cooled the room although it put off a terrible chemical smell that made me a little nervous. I hooked up the drainage line to a big bucket, as shown in the directions. The bucket filled, so I assumed it was working properly. We used it a few nights, being sure to set the time for it to stop in the morning. Then my son told me his floor was soaked. I went up there and the entire carpet, new carpet, was spongy and saturated under and around the machine. It was probably like a five foot radius surrounding the thing. The drainage seemed to be working but I realized it also is leaking massive amounts of water from the bottom. What a mess! I’m currently trying to return the product but it’s heavy and I have to box it up and haul it out to ship. Avoid this product! Update—— STILL WAITING for refund on this product!
