Excellent for solo travel
By C. Moulton on Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2025
Bought this bag (and a few others for comparison) for a solo trip to Japan. I narrowed it down to Core Surf and this one, fully packed each and tried them on. They were very similar aside from $$, but the Cotopaxi overall just felt like better construction. The shoulder straps were more padded and comfortable on the Cotopaxi (you’ll find that out quickly after carrying a full bag for 20 min). The waterproof outer liner was great when walking in the rain with an umbrella that didn’t cover the entire bag. Also people complain about not wanting the waist straps, I don’t like them myself - but they easily tuck and stow into the backpack so no issue there. Was a great backpack for an 8 day trip, even had some leftover room to fit some souvenirs. Was super nice easily moving through train stations, stairs and busy streets without having to tug a rolling back around.

Not bad, but some concerns about the overall durability
By HLR on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2025
My first travel backpack. Holds a lot. Can get heavy when packed to the maximum capacity. Overall quality seems pretty decent, but the water bottle pocket developed a hole after only a couple of days of light use, and per Cotopaxi their warranty "does not cover" it. So I'm not sure how this will hold up with heavy use or how the manufacturer will respond to further durability issues.
