Doesn’t cook evenly

I have another brand- in a more vibrant color- and wanted something creamy white since it pretty much would get used all the time. And while this is lovely- it does not cook as evenly as I would like and scorches. My Lodge is a much better quality in terms of overall cooking. However I use it I just have learned how to best avoid the scorch.
