Very Useful, but there may be better versions out there?
By Emily L on Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2024
The concept is great for portioning - just jam in the chopped meat and you'll have about .3 lb. patties. But we bought to also use for storage in the freezer and this design isn't really up to that. It's long and floppy, so the "flap" that tucks into the too-thin lip to keep everything closed, easily pops out and opens up. The seal is also not tight enough to prevent freezer burn, even when it stays closed. So the whole thing has to be jammed into a huge freezer bag. Our solution was to cut the thing into thirds (each holding only 2 patties) and keep those in smaller freezer bags.

Flimsy

These do the job of allowing you to ha e pre-made patties and do a fair job of keeping them fresh. Unfortunately, they are quite flimsy. They don't stay sealed well and allow ice crystals to form inside. I also found them to be more difficult to use than the ones I am used to because they bend so easily and don't stay flat.

This is larger than I thought... Even though the dimensions are listed, I am just used to seeing this size burger in my frozen boxes side by side and stacked in three. I think I will have to order another one because I usually buy meat in bulk. My son prefers my burgers to any other store or national brand because I flavor the meat first with some McCormick Grill Mates Roasted Garlic & Herb Seasoning. He asks for them all the time! The silicone mold also has a small dimple in the center of each patty. This small dimple is supposed to prevent the patty from shrinking in diameter and swelling in the center during grilling (something the store bought frozen patties don't have) I had no problems fitting this in my side by side freezer. I do want another one, but I will wait until a sale comes along on this. UPDATE: I did order 2 more of these when I caught them on sale. If I buy 5-6 lbs of meat when I shop, I now have enough mold to make burgers without wasting any meat or time. I was looking at the mold the other day and I even wondered if these would work to cook 30 second microwave scrambled eggs for breakfast sandwiches. Honestly, it looks like it will work, but I will report back with a real life experience after my son's friends spend the weekend over. So after thinking about this for way too much time, I could never figure out how they have decided these could make 4 or 5 oz burgers.... It is either or and you don't really have a choice. These are sized for the larger 5 oz burgers. If you fill them less in height, they will just get freezer burned so I do not recommend you try that. Fill to the top, close and freeze. Wear gloves so you don't get meat stuck in your hands/fingernails.

Burger press

The silicone burger mold creates perfect quarter pound burgers. It is easy to use and will create perfectly round, properly proportioned, burgers to throw on the grill. It's very convenient to use this to create the burgers ahead of time so that you can enjoy your guests when barbecuing. It comes nicely boxed and includes an instruction sheet that even has a recipe on it. I like that it's an easy cleanup when you're done, as this is dishwasher safe. I took a star away because I feel like although this is a convenience, the price is a little high, as it's not much different than others I've used. I think if they reduce the price a little bit, it's a much better bang for your buck. However it does work well, is versatile, and cleans easily, so I would still recommend.
No better, or easier, way to preform your burgers

This is a review for Chef'n Burger Press, 14.5 x 5.5 x 1 IN. I buy in bulk as much as possibly can as it is often discounted. Hamburger had been one of these and I had to hand form, with no consistency, to freeze for later grilling. Now, with this press, I can uniformly premake my patties. By using this press and the ability to create everyone the size size and shape, I can more easily store them. The form is very easy to clean, either by hand or dishwasher. Just can’t get any easier or simple from start to finish.

This is for "Chef'n Burger Press, 14.5 x 5.5 x 1 IN" Packaged in a nice retail box. High quality silicone mold. With 2LB ground meat, formed six patties, and cooked the patties. Starting cook with dimple side down helped keep the burgers flat. Afterwards, press cleaned up nicely in the dishwasher.
Perfect Consistent Patties

Having a burger press makes things so much easier and more consistent. The patties come out perfectly using the silicone mold and it makes up to 6 at a time. Because they will be evenly shaped, the cook on the patties and the cooking time will be the same on every patty. It's easy to wash and dishwasher safe. You can even place it directly in the freezer with the patties inside to save time and clean up. The only downside is storage. It is quite long and wide and will take up a good amount of space. It does fold up to be 3 patties wide to save on storage or to make thicker patties. If you do fold it, you can still have 6 thinner patties, just use the included silicone divider and place it in between.

A little bit of a learning curve but once I got the hang of it, it's great. Made well and looks like it will hold up for a while.

So when this thing first comes out of the box, it is folded into itself so it's not immediately obvious that it really is SIX burger presses, because the way it folds up at first it looks like it's only three. But it is six. Which is convenient for making a bunch of burgers, maybe not so convenient for taking up a giant swatch of the dishwasher. I'm glad they can GO in the dishwasher though. It's a little unclear how to shape all the meat into the molds, I recommend wearing gloves, but once you get the meat in there and smoothed out to shape, at least being silicon it's easy to pop the burgers out of the molds. So, nice find.
