Excellent Firm Mattress- Good Price, High Quality- Worth the Expense
By @leighttweets on Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2018
Short version: My wife and I have had this mattress for over a year now and can say with confidence that it was an excellent purchase- it is still firm and has no sags or dips. I highly recommend it. I have held off on writing a review for this mattress because I felt it was necessary to sleep on it for an extended period of time to give it the most fair and accurate review. My wife and I purchased this mattress over a year ago, in November 2017. After going to all the local stores, from big box to mom and pop, my wife and I found ourselves with a problem: we could tell which mattresses were soft and which were firm, but aside from that we didn't really feel much difference apart from the price tag- almost all of which exceeded a thousand dollars, with some approaching two grand. That's quite an outlay of cash. So, going off reviews on Amazon we took the leap on this Zinus Extra Firm iCoil 12 inch king mattress. We also purchased a steel foundation upon which to set the mattress in our bed frame. The box arrived a little beat up, but my wife and I muscled it into the house and carried it upstairs together. It's a two person job, but not impossible. We set the rolled up mattress on our guest bed and carefully cut away the plastic so the bed would unroll. (Pro tip: Don't stand between the mattress and the wall. You might get pinched) We followed the directions and let the mattress sit undisturbed for 2 or 3 days so it could fully expand. After which time, we moved it into our bedroom. It's now more than one year on and I feel qualified to report on the mattress. It is firm, but not rock hard. This is obviously subjective, so all I can say is that you know a firm mattress when you lay on one, and this is a firm mattress but is still comfortable. I'm a side and stomach sleeper, and my wife is a back sleeper. I'm 5'11", 230lbs, and we'll just say that my wife is plus sized and leave it at that. The mattress supports both of us fine, and a year later has no depressions, dips, sags or problem areas. The last time I did laundry I snapped some photos of the mattress which I have posted above. You'll notice the mattress is still even and flat, even after a year of nightly use. I purchased this mattress myself, with my own money, have no relationship with the manufacturer, and am receiving nothing in return for writing this review. I just know how difficult it is take the leap of purchasing something like this over the internet, so I thought I'd write a review to help people in a similar situation my wife and I found ourselves in last year. This mattress was an excellent purchase, I've recommended it to friends, and if you're in the market for a fairly priced firm mattress, I can recommend it to you as well. Cheers.

Do not buy
By LH on Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024
I bough my mattress at the end of December and started using it after December 31st when I moved to my new place. Before placing it in my bed, it spend around a week expanding in the floor, more than the suggested time. I bough extra firm because I have chronic pain. At the end of February, beginning of March it started sinking. I contacted the company for warranty and they agreed to change it, they asked me a few photos and information and told me there were two options, sending a new mattress or prorated refund with the condition of sending them evidence that it was disposed or donated. I told them I wanted replacement because this is the only bed I have, plus I don’t agree to prorated value of a mattress that is warranted for 10 years, but was defective and started sinking in less than 3 months. Is not fair when the client has to pay for the company’s shortcomings and they need to be accountable. Weeks later I receive a message that they don’t have the mattress in warehouse, if I wanted the refund or wait? I once again explained is my only bed, is not an option for me and I would wait. I even told them I would be open to get the 12” even when I paid for 14”, if they had it available. Some time later they ask again the same question. I give the same response and tell them that is unfair they pretend for me to pay for their shortcomings, they are asking for something totally unreasonable, just change it for the smaller, I’m giving them that much grace. Right now, the send an email again that is not possible, if I wanted the refund. I ask them if is still required for me to dispose the mattress? Yes, they apparently want me to sleep in the floor in order to solve a situation their company is responsible for, not me. I also asked what would be the refund and if they cover the tax, because I would still be losing money. They said depends of from what year is the mattress, I have literally sent receipt and said so many times that it started sinking very soon after buying, this is a new mattress. Now they say they wouldn’t cover it because I bought it in Amazon, so now is not depending on the year, when I remind them is only 4 months old!!! I’m just tired at this point. Sleeping with back pain caused by the extra-firm mattress I bough while the company is still asking me to sleep in the floor and lose money to cover their mess-up.
