Unexpected loss of functionality

I had been looking for this item and then it came up on sale. Installation was not a problem. When first hooked up it worked fine and being hard wired I was able to set the zone that triggered the video recording. Then a very persistent request to upgrade the Arlo app resulted in a loss in the ability to to set the zone that triggered recording and notification. Now I am continually harassed by every passing car. I own the base and should not have to buy a “plan” to save my recordings in their cloud. Device works ok but Arlo gets a “D” grade.
