My second one

I have had Hunter air filters for over 20 years. I just replaced the bedroom one and this is for my dining living room area. I have a townhouse with two Japanese Chin dogs and this does cut down on dander.

Noisy and lacks basic features of others

I bought 2 of these HP670 HEPA filters on woot which is owned by Amazon. They were $37ish and I figured why not can't be that bad with a brand like Hunter on them. Well, arrived quick and that's a plus. The housing was missing aligned at the factory so the lower part that allows access to the filter wasn't totally engaged and left 2 teeth (little brittle plastic finger things) out of their designed area. And since it was packaged who knows how long ago the plastic had essentially taken on the new egg shape apposed to the round cylinder of the fan housing. After some struggles I got it all to align. Plugged it in and wow it is louder than expected. I've had relatively quiet HEPA filter in the past and I currently have a wallyworld special that was $30 and replacement filter were $35... So I buy a new one each time the filters need replacement and that one has an ozone feature too! This Hunter has a timer and "night mode" but even on its low setting or night mode it's over 40db. And over 70 in medium or high! I'll give it a few more days and see how I like it. It would still be in the box but someone in the neighborhood has a fire going tonight and I can smell it in my house while trying to sleep so I unboxed one and put it about 5ft from my bed. It would be nice to have an ozone functionality on this. The value for money at what I paid is decent but I would NEVER pay over $120 for this basic filter with a timer. It isn't designed to the best in my opinion. Missing features like remote or being able to direct the air (it goes straight up only) is a pretty bad design miss IMO as is the ozone (beating dead horse I know). At least it seems to function by the noise it's making. Time will tell but not impressed.
