Great scissor jack for lifting the heavy adjustable up and down table on my old Buffalo drill press.

Bought two jacks, main screw STRIPPED on one. DANGEROUS!
By A DIY Car Enthusiast on Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2025
One of the two scissor jacks I bought broke within a couple uses. The screw stripped and now can't turn at all, and that shoild hust never happen with scissor jacks. Called customer service, and the person I talked to said they could do component replacements but not a full unit replacement (okay, what does that mean - the damn thing is seized) and that they don't do refunds for warranty claims at all. That's potentially illegal. I'll try going through the official warranty process, but if they refuse to give me my money back for a fundamentally defective design, I'lll consider filing a CFPB complaint. Also, as other reviews point out, the pinch welds on cars will just tear through the rubber top of this jack and end up ironically damaging the pinch weld more than if you just used a standard all metal scissor jack that you know will scratch the paint a little bit. The rubber is thin at the U-groove and just needs to be thicker. Good concept, poor execution. So, both jacks I bought are now damaged and one completely unusable despite normal, reasonable operation. My car is less than the rated weight of ONE jack and I was using BOTH jacks to lift the front of my car from both front pinch welds evenly to avoid the jacks bending too much while lifting. And yet, the main screw of one of the jacks stripped when jacking up the car. Again, that should never happen for any reason. The screw is a primary load bearing component. It's honestly terrifying. Don't buy - it's not worth your life. Sure a, scissor jack is worth keeping in your car for emergencies, but in practice they're simply not reliable or safe to fully lift a car despite what a manufacturer may claim. If you drive a lot and are going to do your own car maintenance, spend the money and get a Daytona hydraulic floor jack from Harbor Freight. Excellent build quality and value. For many modern vehicles with low road clearance, the "long reach low profile" version of the Daytona jack is what you want. For what it's worth, I've got four 3-ton TCE jack stands as well and those are fantastic, but these scissor jacks and many similar ones on Amazon are DANGEROUS. A major part of the problem is just that scissor jacks in general can't reposition themselves as they're lifting a car in the way that hydraulic floor jacks on wheels automatically do. So even if you're doing everything right, you simply can't lift a car "straight up" with a scissor jack, and scissor jacks are strong vertically but weak horizontally. I've tried a handful of different scissor jacks over the years hoping I'd find one that worked well, yet even $100, 3 ton scissor jacks will bend and deform permanently when lifting a car that's less than 1.5 tons if they lift the car more than like 6 inches, simply because they start to experience a little bit of lateral force. But, again, these 1.5 ton jacks are not worth it even for the price. There's never a good reason for the screw of a scissor jack to strip. If you're going to get a scissor jack for emergencies that you just keep in your car, get one that's got a round top and a very thick rubber pinch weld groove adapter, that's rated for way more than your vehicle actually weighs, and then make sure to lube the hell out of the screw ahead of time with good quality automotive grease. Hope this review helped.
