Started falling apart when we wash them

My son bought multiple pairs of these shorts but the black pair started falling apart the first time we washed them and got worse the second time. One pocket the entire seam came out of, the second wash the zipper pocket shrunk so much he couldn't use it. The other ones were just fine so apparently we got a defective pair.

Originally purchased a size small for my 13 yo, too small. Returned and bought a medium in this same style. Only worn 3 times and there are holes in both pockets and on the waistband. Would not recommend these!
