It goes up and down JUST 1s without any button. It wraps up just like a small umbrella. Lastly, it has a strap attached with velcro that keeps it closed. It can easily stow away in the door pocket or the center console. It isn't as bulky as the folding (accordion style) car shades.I bought two more for my families. This car windshield sun shade is the BEST car shade I've ever purchased!! It gives great coverage. It definitely helps in Florida heat, but the true test was today when I got in my car at 3 in the afternoon and realized I forgot to set it up this morning. My car felt like it was ON FIRE!!! Not only that my steering wheel was BURNING my hands! My car took at least 15 mins to cool down, awful! Never again!! I know now that I could never live without this front windshield sun shade! The ice crystal cooling material really works, maintaining a comfy 90 degrees inside. Protects my dashboard and seats even steering wheel from sun damage.
