Prior to purchasing the vacuum I read the reviews, so with regard to the carpet pile, this vacuum did a great job on a shag, high pile, carpet without any issue. In addition, the battery life on low is 60 min and medium is 30 minutes and a bit less on high. My home is 4400 sq feet and I vacuumed the first floor of my house with 15 minutes remaining.
