A Great Game Controller With A few Caveats.
By K. Porterfield on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2023
The Thrustmaster eSwap X Pro Controller is a great controller for the most part. The one place where it could use a little help is with the joysticks. They wear out a little sooner than some on the market do. Fortunately, there is a really great fix for this! There is a third party part which you can order which you can use to replace the joysticks without having to replace all of the joystick, whether you are using the sticks which came with your Thrustmaster eSwap X Pro Controller, or if you are using one of the colour packs. You can find the third party replacement part on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09H7PVZMY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The replacement part will also eventually wear out, just as all joysticks usually do, but it will take a lot longer for it to do so. The replacement part will make the joysticks much stiffer, so if you have unusually weak thumbs, you may need to chose a different option. The box which the Thrustmaster eSwap X PRO Controller comes in is really nice, and it's that way for a reason. When your gaming session is done, you should put your Thrustmaster eSwap X Pro Controller back in its box, and fit the stiff foam part over the two joysticks in the way that it originally came. It has a cut-out which fits over the switch controller in such a way that it can't be inserted incorrectly. The purpose of this packing piece is to ensure that the sticks are perfectly centred, and that neither spring has any extra tension on it. This will not only ensure that your joysticks last longer, but it will also ensure that your joysticks will remain tensioned properly even over long periods of time. The eSwap X PRO is both a very high quality controller, but also a rather expensive one too, so you'll want to give it the best care possible. Initially, the Thrustmaster eSwap X PRO Controller is more expensive than most controllers, but if you replace the spring box (the mechanical part only, not the whole joystick), you'll eventually recoup that extra expense by not having to buy a new controller every time the joysticks wear out. The thing to remember is that unless you want to customize your colours, you should never buy Thrustmaster replacement sticks. Always buy the Epindon Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Controller Replacement Stick Module Kit instead (see above link). Summary: If you do not use a game controller very often, then this joystick is probably not going to be for you. But if you use a controller a lot (almost daily) then this is definitely the game controller for you. If you game a lot using a controller, this controller will save you money over time if you use the Epindon Thrustmaster eSwap Pro Controller Replacement Stick Module Kit when your joysticks wear out, especially if you put it away in its original packing after each play session. Overpriced and frequently having issues
By Marx on Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2024
I purchased this in February 2024, when I first got it, it was awesome. everything worked good and felt good. about two months one of the sticks fell off. No, not the module, the actual stick on the module. It looked like it was not correctly glued on or something from the factory. I was able to click it back onto the module, but shortly there after began getting random stick inputs, it was worse than stick drift. I contacted Thrustmaster for warranty repair. Nearly a month after several emails and sending many videos showing the issue and downloading their software to show I wasn't making it up they sent me two replacement modules. I'm on the second one now as one of them had the same issue, the stick was not seated/glued properly. In the last month the "B" button has come loose and gets stuck sometimes, and the sticks are again giving random inputs. I am not going to go through warranty again. For the price of this controller, It is not acceptable for it to last less than a year, I'm not throwing the thing around, I'm about as hard on it as I assume most gamers are. I am tempted to try their new lower priced HEART controller, but I am also not really wanting to risk another failure. Stick to racing/flight peripherals Thrustmaster, its what you do best.
