2 Speed 3HP Hot Tub Spa Pump

Ordered this for my spa. Got spa drained and pump wired all up easily. Just before I began to install it I noticed the impeller on the pump looked crushed within the housing. Thought maybe it was supposed to look like that so I tried to spin the pump but it was locked up. I then popped the plastic cap off the motor end to access the motor/pump shaft. I was able to rotate it from there with a screwdriver in the slot in the shaft end. It made a bad "plastic on plastic" grinding noise and was hard to turn. Definitely a manufacturing defect as the pump was packaged well and undamaged upon arrival. Ordered a replacement pump through Amazon. That pump was good and spin feely but I had to de-wire the bad one, wire up the new one, then return the bad one to UPS as they wouldn't offer a free pickup. During the extra 4 day delay temps got down in the 20's so my spa lines would have frozen had I not run a space heater under it for days. New pump has been running good for a few weeks but I can't give a good rating based on the quality issue and all the extra hassle.
