Intex TruAire Luxury Air Mattress: Twin Size

I ordered this after buying a different mattress from another brand made from PVC, which is the material used in most air mattresses, including other models from Intex. By contrast, this mattress is made from TPU (thermoplastic urethane) which has MUCH lower odor than any air mattress I’ve ever used. Supposedly TPU is also more puncture resistant than PVC, although I haven’t tried to test that claim. As for the other features, they’re all good. It’s easy to inflate and deflate with the built-in pump, the mattress is nice and thick, and the flocked surface has a good “feel.” The first (PVC) mattress had such a strong smell that I immediately rolled it back up and opened a window. It took hours to get the smell out. With the TPU mattress, honestly I couldn’t smell anything. If you’re looking to buy a TPU mattress, look for the TruAire version from Intex. Other brands may have TPU mattresses, but I couldn’t find them, and Intex is a well known brand so I just went with that.
