AXE MEMORY USB Drive 3-Pack 32GB

This is a pretty straight-forward USB memory drive. I like that they are packaged attractively in black with the caps that snap on and off. I like that the each of the set has a different color band so that you can possibly distinguish between them if you store different files on them. The first thing that I noticed when I attempted to test these is that they come formatted with FAT32. This means that they are limited to a max 4GB file size out of the box. I reformatted using exFAT (pretty much supported everywhere now) and was able to remove that limitation. I was somewhat disappointed by the speed. These are not blazing fast. I tested both on Ubuntu Linux 22.10 and Windows 11. On linux, I seemed to notice initially fast speeds and then it would slow way down. It was almost as if some buffer was getting filled and then it would slow down waiting to drain the buffer. On windows, it just seemed uniformly slow. After reviewing the initial product list, I realized that these are actually USB2 and not USB3 drives. I hadn't noticed that originally before ordering. These still aren't bad drives for many uses. And these seem like a pretty good deal for the price. But if you are transferring large files or need fast performance, then you might want to consider another option.
