Makes getting ready so much easier

I recently picked up the Shark Freestyle Air Styler & Dryer, and after a few weeks of use, I’m happy to share my thoughts. Here’s my review: Design & Build: The Shark Freestyle Air Styler & Dryer has a sleek, modern design that feels both lightweight and sturdy. The ergonomic handle makes it comfortable to hold, and the size is perfect for both styling and drying without causing wrist strain. It’s a compact tool that doesn’t feel bulky or awkward to use, which is a huge plus when you’re styling your hair for a longer period. The styling attachments are easy to swap out, which makes it versatile for different hair types and looks. I also appreciate the fact that it doesn’t take up too much space—whether you’re storing it in a drawer or leaving it out on the counter, it’s not overly large compared to other hair tools. Performance & Drying Power: When it comes to drying, the Shark Freestyle does an excellent job. It has multiple heat and speed settings, which makes it adaptable to different hair types and styling needs. The airflow is powerful enough to dry my hair quickly without causing frizz, and it leaves my hair feeling soft and shiny, which is a nice surprise for a dryer in this price range. The ionized technology helps to reduce static and frizz, which is a major win for me, as I usually struggle with flyaways. I also find that my hair feels smooth and hydrated after drying, even without applying additional styling products. Styling Features: The Shark Freestyle truly shines when it comes to styling. The included attachments, like the round brush and the smoothing nozzle, give you the flexibility to create a range of looks. The round brush is fantastic for adding volume and creating soft curls or waves, while the smoothing nozzle helps to get sleek, straight hair without much effort. What I particularly love is the hot air brush function, which allows you to both dry and style simultaneously. This is a big time-saver since I don’t have to switch between a blow dryer and a separate styling tool. The airflow is powerful enough to set the style, yet gentle enough to avoid causing heat damage, which is a common concern with some dryers. Heat Settings & Versatility: The Shark Freestyle offers adjustable heat and speed settings, which gives you a lot of control over how you style your hair. Whether you want a quick dry or a more polished, styled look, there’s an option for every need. There’s also a cool shot button for locking in your style, which is a nice addition for a professional finish. Drawbacks: While I really like the overall performance, there are a couple of things I’d note. First, it might not be the best option for super thick or coarse hair if you’re looking for ultra-fast drying. It takes a bit longer to dry very thick hair compared to a high-powered blow dryer. Also, the attachments can feel a little flimsy after frequent use, though they still perform well. The cord is also not as long as I’d like. If you have a large bathroom or need to plug in further away from your mirror, you might find it slightly limiting. Final Thoughts: Overall, the Shark Freestyle Air Styler & Dryer is a great all-in-one styling tool that combines the power of a blow dryer with the versatility of a styling brush. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and provides great results, especially for creating voluminous hair or smooth styles. While it may not replace a traditional blow dryer for very thick hair, it’s perfect for those with medium to fine hair or anyone looking for a quick, versatile tool to simplify their hair routine. If you’re looking for an affordable, space-saving solution for both drying and styling, I’d highly recommend giving it a try!

Good luck if you have unprocessed hair
By Emily K.W. on Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2024
To preface, I have long (torso length), moderately thick/wavy hair that has never been dyed. I'm typically a heatless curl girly, but I'm always looking for efficient ways to achieve cute curls. I rather impulsively purchased this with optimism that I could get the desired style I had been envisioning, but man, expectation is always better than reality. The bad: - I cannot for the life of me get my hair to curl using this thing. I learned after purchasing that this tool works better if you have processed hair and it is partially damp when using. Well, rest assured that if your hair isn't processed before using this tool, it will be after 😮‍💨. No amount of mousse, texturizing spray or any other product could make curls hold, and it only made my hair feel and look like straw. - Another common suggestion I read was that pinning each curl after wrapping will set them into place. This did help a little, but it added so much time to the process, and the curls didn't last more than a couple of hours before falling flat. The whole purpose of this being a "quick" styling tool is defeated when you have to do a whole other thing to just to convince yourself the curling attachments work and it was worth the pricetag. - It's pretty loud. It is technically a hair dryer, so that isn't a surprise. With that being said, when you're having to spend 15-30 seconds per strand of hair to curl right up against your head, it can be a bit harsh. - The air wrap attachments have a harder time with longer hair. My hair falls down over my chest, and I learned pretty quick that thicker sections couldn't wrap very well. Even so, reducing the amount of hair only helped so much given the length. By the time a strand is fully wrapped around the attachment, the airflow reduces enough that my ends fall away and don't curl. The good: - I love the diffuser attachment. In the past few years my hair has developed a natural wave, and the diffuser has done wonders for bringing it that out. - The brush attachments are awesome as well, although I am not super great at styling with them. I do use the smaller one to set my curtain bangs on the regular, and it is nice having an all in one way of achieving that. In summary, I don't think that I should have purchased this tool. The desired use doesn't work (for me) and is far too time consuming to not get results. While I do get some use out of it, I could just as easily use a hair dryer and regular round brush to set my bangs for a fraction of the cost. You may have better luck if you have processed hair, but I really do not think this tool is worth the cost.

Great for the unskilled, or to cut styling time

Just got this today. Initial review- - Dries hair FAST, I have very fine hair but a LOT of it, and this dried my hair in maybe half the time of a regular dryer - I dried my hair on the next to lowest heat setting- it didn’t burn my head at all but was still very effective at drying - I used the curling rods (comes with 2, one for left side and one for right side of head) and was pretty pleased with how easy they were to figure out See attached photos- for context, I used no products in my hair to combat frizz or add volume, etc. Had just washed my hair and was excited to test this out. Blow dried my hair until it was about 85% dry, and then grabbed a few sections to test the curling rods. I literally half-a**ed this and only curled a small number of sections in my hair, so just know that if you spend more than literally 6 minutes curling your hair with this, I think it’ll look ten times as good. This thing isn’t too heavy, and the attachments are very easy to switch out (they do have a locking mechanism so they don’t fall out while you’re using them). A lot of people have commented on the volume, but honestly- it doesn’t sound any louder to me than a typical blow dryer? The noise is slightly more high pitched than a normal dryer, so maybe that’s what people don’t like, but after 5 seconds of using it the sound literally became white noise to me. Honestly, I think it’s quieter than most hotel dryers. My one complaint isn’t really a complaint, I just didn’t read and realize that there’s a different curling wand for each side of the head. So you’ll basically curl one side of your head, then swap out the rod and curl the other side. I kind of wish it was just one rod to do the whole head, but with how they’re designed that wouldn’t work (unless you didn’t care about which way the curls face.) Each rod is clearly marked on the end with an L or an R so there’s no guesswork. As someone who loves to have nice hair but is infinitely lazy and unskilled with a curling iron or round brush, this seems like it was very well worth the purchase for me. If you’re already a pro at doing hair, you might not get as much use out of this set, but for me I’m very happy with the purchase. I chose this over the dyson because of the price point, but also because I’ve owned other products (vacuums lol) from each brand and I’ve found Shark products to be more reliable and dependable than Dyson stuff. Update: two weeks in and I’m loving this. Surprisingly, my favorite attachment is the round brush. It’s so easy to use that with the dryer to dry my hair and give it volume so my roots aren’t so flat. This thing also travels well- when you straighten out the dryer barrel, this was super easy for me to fit in my carry on bag and then I just threw the paddle brush attachment in my backpack. Easy peasy and I was able to use it to keep my hair looking full and lovely on a long weekend trip to the lake. Very happy with this purchase. Edit 2- 2 month update. I freaking love this thing. I actually don’t use the curling wands very often- I’ve been using both brush options to get volume and even curls in my hair. I’ve never been skilled (or patient) at doing my hair but this thing has been pretty much a game changer for me. Walked out of the house the other day looking like I had just gotten my hair professionally done, felt like a goddess.
Hair looks like a blow out every time AND it's a hair tool that I won't have (or want) to replace!

I have had the Shark hair dryer for almost a year now. I cannot tell you how much I love this hair dryer - its beautiful - saves time - I plan on keeping this thing for years to come. The second I started using it, I started getting more compliments on my hair. This thing is heavy duty and feels like an appliance! You know it's going to last for a long time, has a lot of power, and is FUNCTIONAL! Pros: Easy to use - attachments are easy to lock into place and feels secure while in use Super quick drying time - it cut my already short drying time in half Adds tons of volume while smooths my fine hair Heavy duty The settings!!! Hot gets hot and the cold shot actually is cold The curls stay in - I REPEAT - THE CURLS STAY IN Space saver - it's only hot tool I use - no more curing irons or straightners necessary My hair feels and looks healthier It's beautiful! But I love black and rose gold Cons ..... it's a little heavy? But you get used to it. Years ago when Shark and Dyson debuted with thir hair dryers, I bought knock off with all of the same attachments - it's attachment locking mechanism broke within a week. Because the locking mechanism broke, I got spooked on this type of hair dryer and went on using versions of and including the L'ange le volume. Then I used the brand name Dyson for a week straight while on vacation with my sister. I brought my l'ange with me, but loved her Dyson. So for 2 months, I debated back and forth between buying the Dyson and buying the Shark. There were some features on the Dyson that I didnt really like (the texture of the handle, for example). So! I decided to take the leap and purchase this. After the years of debating and thinking about it after I saw the first ads when it came originally came out onto the market, I would have saved myself so much time, hassle, frustration, and MONEY over the years had I just bought this hair dryer in the first place. Please - Just save yourself the bad hair days, mental torture, and money... I promise it's worth it.
Love the curling wands!

I am loving this Shark FlexStyler Blow Dryer. I purchased this because my Dyson burnt up the motor and I didn’t want to spend $400+ to replace. So I tried the FlexStyler. I really like the curling wands and love how it makes my hair look. I have received so many compliments on how great my hair looks. I have also used the round brush. I do wish there was another smaller one available as I use this to comb out and give my bangs a little lift and slight curl at the ends. A smaller option would be great. I have used the round brush to help straighten my curly hair when drying. That’s not my favorite, but it helps. I have not used the diffuser yet, but honestly that is the whole reason I purchased this dryer. I use a diffuser to help with my curly hair. I was just excited to use the curling wands and love it so much I really haven’t tried it for the reason I purchased it. My absolute favorite though are the curling wands. That alone would have me purchasing this package again. There are a lot of parts to it and storage is an issue, so I have purchased a bag from Amazon but have not received it yet. I’m excited to be able to put all the attachments in one place.

I'm someone who kind of hates doing my hair, but I also like to keep it long, and lately I've been wanting a more polished look at work so I thought I'd give this a try. I've used the inexpensive Revlon brush hairdryer before and thought it was alright but too hot and loud for me in the mornings. This tool has been great. It's quiet, has much nicer heat control settings, and the curling barrels are the perfect size for my hair. I think it's going to travel very well too since it folds out into a flat shape, it's much less bulky than my old normal hairdryer which I never packed. The only thing I need to figure out is a good way to store it and all the accessories in an easy to reach way. I got it "used, like new" and it seemed like a perfectly good deal to me.

So far, this is the coolest hair tool I've ever bought! I didn't know what to expect, and seriously bought it on a whim; normally, I'd never spend so much on something like this. However, I actually would do it again, and say spend the money if you have it. For comparison, I have very long, thick, course, wavy hair. Blow dry and style / curl / straighten takes at least one hour for me, already shampoo'd and conditioned, and it's a massive undertaking every time. I was able to dry and curl my hair in about 40 minutes the very first time with this thing (almost no idea what I was doing) and my hair honestly does look like I just had it done at a salon. I'm seriously impressed! Great job, Shark!!!
The product is amazing, but Amazon Resale quality control is not

Shark gets 5 stars. Amazon resale gets 2 stars. I have thick, straight Asian hair and the air wrap works way better than I thought it would on the highest speed. I haven't used the attachments for anything else yet, but the quality is there. So Amazon Resale is great to get a better deal on a used item. I purposely bought this item in "Used- Like New" condition especially hair, contact with body, sanitation, etc... the brush attachment came with hair in it. It's blonde hair so you might have to look a little closer at the picture. It's not just one or two strands, but a fist full. Again, you run the risk buying a used item, but I would expect "like new" to be.... like new. Luckily I'm not SUPER grossed out, just a little... i will wear gloves and remove it and sanitize because a good deal is a good deal. This is not the first I've heard of this happening either... also, who returns an item in that condition?! Comeon.

SO EASY to use! Perfect dupe for the Dyson Airwrap. Dyson Airwrap is out of my budget but I used it a few times from a friend who has one. I absolutely feel in love with the Airwrap but the hefty price tag was a no-go. I asked a stylist for a dupe and she recommended this. I also bought the separate barrel to curl to not have to switch barrels as well as the separate round brush attachment. Overall, I definitely believe this tool is worth the price. After using the Shark, a friend said the results looked identical to the Dyson. Therefore, why buy the tool which is double/a little bit more than double for the same result? The only thing that the Dyson has that I believe the Shark does not do is the suction. The Dyson has a great way of suctioning the hair to the attachment which I believe creates less flyaways and more lift. You can get the same lift with the Shark at the roots of the hair but with more effort. Overall, I would really recommend.
I like it!

Okay so I was torn between spending the money on a Dyson or getting the shark for way cheaper. I’ve used the Dyson plenty of times. The shark definitely comes close to the quality but if I had the funds, I probably would have went with the Dyson. The shark doesn’t have any major things I dislike about it but it does start to steam a lot when it’s on high heat and high power. It curls well but curls tend to fall out faster than I’d like them to. I do still like the shark and don’t regret buying as it was a lot cheaper than the Dyson. 😁
I LOVE THIS HAIR TOOL!!!

Firstly, let me address some of the odd reviews I've seen. Yes, it gets hot enough for people with naturally curly hair to also get their hair straight and smooth or straight and bouncy with the attachments. It allows people with thick or course hair to use the curling barrels. If you think that makes it dangerous, you maybe shouldn't operate any appliances that get hot without adults supervision. This tool comes with a styling guide telling you the ideal average setting for each thing and how to adjust it for your hair type. Thinner hair, turn the heat down by one, frizzier hair, turn down the air by one, thicker coily hair, turn the heat up by one, etc. It is not the responsibility of any hair company to learn your hair type for you and make a tool especially for you at the same price of a mass-marketed tool for people who can figure out their hair type BEFORE buying things for said head of hair. Also, something not getting hot doesn't make it better for your hair. You can ruin a meal by slowcooking it, you can ruin clothing by putting it in the dryer on low heat for a really long time, you can slowcook your hair by using low heat when you shouldn't and using it a longer period of time than you should need. I can't imagine why this isn't a normal chain of logic but it isn't so here we go! I got the T3 Aire 360 first but, because this was only $20 more and came with all of these attachments, I knew I needed to try it and compare. Well, I kept doing one side of my hair with T3 and one with this tool and they never did look very different. The Shark side had more volume but wasn't as smooth, so okay, hit it with a little Amalfi Gold Hair Serum. The T3 side was smoother but didn't have as much volume so, okay, hold at the roots longer. However, the T3 brush did NOT get my roots all the way to the scalp, so there was still waviness at the root and I hated it. The Shark Flexstyle performed BEAUTIFULLY in that using the oval brush attachment got everything unless it was an area I couldn't see as well, and then going over those areas with the paddle brush attachment fixed it without me having to get out a flat iron. The wands do a nice job and they last longer, the shape that they create lasts 3 days the way I do it, which is a little involved but works nicely. And hey, I only have to do it twice a week so I try not to complain about it. However, their barrels are short. I will be ordering more attachments, including the thinner barrels to go along with all of these, but I'm knocking off a full star for the fact that the main Coanda hair tool manufacturers have all figured out the beauty of longer barrels and Shark still has to catch up on that point. The longer barrels don't make a better curl, but they make it a bit easier to do a lot of long hair, and I have SO MUCH hair! Again, not expecting a custom-made hair tool for the price of a mass-marketed one, but the other guys have figured out longer barrels, Shark can catch up annnnny day now. All in all, I LOVE this tool and find use for all of the attachments. I have even used to diffuser, though I have found curl training and diffusing to be tediously task-heavy and time consuming. Nevertheless, it's so great to finally have a tool that has a diffuser attachment for times when I want to have my curls. I recommend this highly and really hope to see longer barrels one day.
