Comfortable and Gortex!

Was a little upset i did not try these on earlier to see if they fit right. But unlike other New Balance shoes I have owned over the years, these are not true to size. I had to take the insoles out just to make them comfortable enough to walk in. Almost a whole size too small. Great product though, nonetheless.

I absolutely love these shoes! I really wanted waterproof shoes that were not boots, just runners/gym shoes. These are perfect - I walk my dog 3 times/day & need comfortable shoes that will keep me dry in rain, slush, light snow. I have worn these in all of the above conditions & they have performed wonderfully. (also, I bought them on a crazy sale, so the list was only $66.99) - I have read some reviews that say the sizes run small. When I first put them on, they felt ok, just a tad tight but I figured the would loosen up with wear. After a couple of days they fit awesomely - comfy, yet no "slip or slop" something I hate in shoes - they are solid when I move sideways on a hill or wear them in exercise classes. I wear size 9.5 & these are just right for me. I heartily recommend them
Decent!

I walk 4 miles every morning on asphalt, so I tend to burn out shoes in just a few months. It tends to be around the 120-mile mark. (6'3" 195 lbs) Which is fine. You can see in the picture where these are at after 2 full months of daily walks. They've got another month or two, then they'll be toast. Doesn't seem to matter the brand, asphalt is hard on shoes! My last shoes were 1080 V12's, I figure I'll compare these 880 v12's to those. Out of the box, I find the 880's more comfortable than the 1080s by a considerable margin. Obviously, everyone's foot is different. But the 1080's I would have some fatigue setting in at the end of my walks. These 880's never do that to me. They were good to go straight away. The 1080's felt super squishy at the start of the walks, but always felt flatter by the end. Probably in my head, but definitely less comfortable. One big difference is the tongue. The 1080's tongue is on an elastic band that goes around your foot, and it really makes putting the shoe on effortless. The tongue is always in the right place and it's supportive. With the 880's, the tongue is my least favorite part. It's pretty short, and if you pull up on it at all, the sides curl underneath itself and you have to dig them out of the sides. I don't understand why the tongue has such a desire to curl up on itself, I've never seen this in a shoe. Might be a sewing defect on mine. But honestly, even with the annoying tongue issue, I may very well end up buying another pair of these in a month or two. The comfort is hard to beat!
Probably a Good Shoe for Many

I bought these shoes because they went on sale when the updated version came out. My feet/body seem to be pretty picky when it comes to running sneakers. I need shoes with a wide toe box, arch support, and to be on the roomier side due to my high arches. I have primarily been running in a Brooks Glycerin shoe since March, and it has been the best fit/feel to date. I wanted to branch out and try some other options, and read online that New Balance tend to have decent toe box width, aren’t a zero-drop shoe, and are a versatile neutral trainer. The color was bright and looked the same as photos. I really like the look of the shoe, and they felt light & comfortable upon trying on. Walking around, they feel great. Unfortunately, when I run, the outer edges of my pinky toes brush against the toe box and I begin to feel a bit crammed/numb. I also feel they are lacking a bit in arch support compared to my current shoes. I will probably use them to walk in, or for shorter recovery runs. I rated them highly because I do think they are probably a nice running shoe for a lot of people - just not for me and my wide forefoot/toe area :).
Super COMFY. Now have 3 pair of the 880's!

It's a bonus when the shoe doesn't look like a ski on your foot! For reference I measure a size 11 Med with flat feet. With Orthotic inserts I need a Wide Width. This journey started in January with back/hip pain and a swollen knee. Shoes made all the difference. After several pair (through local shoe store) trying to find a pair that fit my new orthotics, I ended up with the blue gray 880 V13 pair showing under these. I hate the color! I bought them because I needed something, anything. Since I can no longer go bare foot, I need a 2nd pair for indoors. Thank you, Amazon! First thing I noticed, the different "V" versions. One person said "Color was the only difference between them." THAT IS NOT TRUE. There ARE SUBTLE DIFFERENCES in the sole. V12 is a tiny fraction narrower than V13. That makes the V12 toe box slightly smaller as well, so a thinner sock works. This shoe is considered "neutral" in support ***. ("Let the orthoditic do the work" per Dr. K.) The upper is a soft & breathable 'fabric' that adds to the light weight and summer comfort. It will be interesting to see how well it stands up to daily wear. I have been wearing them every day, all day, since July 28. There is just a touch of lavender in that brush stroke by the heel. For fun I may change to lavender laces! If you've read this far, I realize my review might create more confusion. Perhaps a bit "TMI". I don't know any other way to stress the importance of a good fitting shoe. Remember, our feet are the foundation that supports the "house" (body). As we get older our feet and the type of support may change. Had I known 30 yrs ago what I've learned this past year, I would never have bought many of the shoes I wore in the past. Apparently that extra space in front of your toes prevents toe and nail problems from developing 10-20 years later. * * * If you need a more supportive, structured shoe check out the New Balance 1540 or Hoka Bondi 7. Both are still light weight with comfortable footbeds as well. Added the second pic - same shoe, different color. It was ordered at the same time and the system keeps bringing this page up when I clicked the Review button for it.

this is the most comfortable running/walking shoe that i've ever worn. i walk on pavement and compared to other brands, the sole is holding up so far. if it ever goes on sale again i would buy again.
Very nice shoes, in my case for walking.

I tried the 1080 V12's first and found them to be too narrow, and rather than guestimate how best to resolve that issue (wide, or next size up...and from reports the sizing is an issue too) I chose to go for the 880's and am glad I did. I should have tried these first...the fit is as expected and very comfy. If I had a vote I would make the heel potion of the soles just a tad firmer, but these are fine and the search for my next pair of shoes is over.

Great running shoe for a narrow foot - attractive design but in some ways cheaply made
By Steve L. - Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2023

Pros: Outstanding support, comfortable, good shock absorption Cons: Tight fit for size, comes with cheap shoe laces and very cheap insole inserts I chose this shoe based on a number of third-party reviews and because I have a very narrow foot and can easily twist my ankle with a lively running shoe. This shoe is actually more than lively enough, but it provides outstanding support for someone with ankle stability issues. It has good arch support and adequate but not excessive mid-foot cushioning. The overall appearance is very attractive and stylish. That said, the shoe is definitely on the tight side - it fits my 11A foot, but barely, with the great toe nearly touching the front of the shoe. The toe box could certainly be just bit bigger and some will undoubtedly need to order the shoe 1/2 size larger than usual. More problematic is that for a moderate-to-high-end running shoe, it's rather cheaply made and the laces and insole insert are particularly disappointing. The laces are flat and thin and will certainly break with use, and the inserts provide absolutely no support, bottoming out with minimal use. Anyone who actually runs in these will need to replace both.
Gore Tex for rain and dark blues hides mud stains.

New Balance Gore-Tex 880 is the shoe I wear when it rains because of the Gore-Tex upper. The sides are waterproof but water will get in around the laces so don't swim in it lol. This is not a stable shoe so get the 860 instead if you need a stable shoe but 860 does not have a Gore-Tex version. This all dark blue shoe is a beautiful shoe I have ever owned. It is dark enough to sneak into a wedding. White shoes get dirty fast. All-black shoes are look too uniform i.e government, office, or private school. I wish we had more all blue shoes.
