Been a Seagate user for over 20 years and these drives are wonderful.

Unlike many others here, I am running an UNRAID server rather than a Synology or QNAP NAS. Perhaps that's why my mileage has varied, such that I have had no failures whatsoever and my server is 100% uptime. I am running (2) 24TB Ironwolf Pro for parity, (8) 12TB Ironwolf Pro for the array and (3) 4TB Samsung EVO NVMe for the cache pools. This all runs on an Intel i9 14th Gen Processor, Gigabyte Aorus Elite motherboard, 128GB Ram and 16-Bay Tower. My workload consists of 24/7 reads and writes including, at times, up to a simultaneous 6-8 4K video streams. The drives never spin down and are active 100% of the time. I've been running this setup for a little over a year now and have had not a single error with parity checks running twice a month and SMART monitoring 24/7. With that said, I think a lot of what makes a drive last is the hardware connected to it and the workload associated with it. I don't expect these to last forever, though. I've been using Seagate drives for over 20 years and I can usually expect 5-8 years before they fail (with constant use). All in all, I'm very happy with these drives and carry very high expectations for the future.

A unbelievable shopping experience with Seagate

I wish there is a way to review the provider in addition to reviewing the product. I would give the product a 4 star and the provider. Seagate, a 0 star. I purchased 3 12T drives for my NAS upgrade. One drive is a DOA. I cannot see the drive in my NAS, but cannot initiate it. The health information of this drive show a 12973 hours of power on time. Also, this dead drive has a different model number compared to the two good ones. So I returned it for exchange. After some trouble due to communications, I end up making a new purchase of the same drive instead of getting a replacement. The new purchase was made after the returned drive was received by Amazon. You guess what, the new drive arrived after a week and is a DOA again. Again, I can see it in my NAS but cannot initiate it. It also has a power on time of 12973 hours. The model number is also the same as the last dead drive, which is different from the two good ones. I have to do another replacement request to finally received a working drive with 0 hours of power on time. I don't know how to explain the whole process, and I do not know what is the chance of receiving two dead drive with the same power on time and model number in a row. I also don't know how may used drives are being sold as new ones in the market by Seagate. I just want to share my experience here to remind other buyers: be careful about what you received and check the power on time regardless what status they promised on the website.
