Olle Galvanized 17" Raised Garden Bed (Open Box)

I ended up choosing the Olle bed because it was less expensive than the Vego, and I liked their particular green color (not available with Vego). That said, In comparison to the Vego garden bed, it's slightly more annoying to put together. And in all honesty, if I had to do it again, I'd probably opt for Vego, Birdies, or Forever Garden beds, even though they're more expensive. I also own a couple plain galvanized raised beds, and this is far superior to those. It's worth it just for the fact that it doesn't get hot in the sun, so you're not constantly burning your hands (or shins) when they come in contact with the metal. Protective film: I'm not exactly sure why this is used, as my panels still had areas where the coating had scratched or rubbed off. It was also a bit of a pain to remove—taking me 30 minutes to remove the film from 2 of the 12 panels. (You do the math.) Hardware: They only give you one extra bolt, washer, and nut (heaven forbid you lose more than that in the dirt while putting it together). Also, it would be nice if, like the Vego beds, the top two nuts in every panel were cap nuts to prevent you from catching your wrists or scratching up your hands when filling and planting. If you're going to go to the expense of having a vinyl edging to protect your hands, then why not a few cap nuts? As someone who has learned the hard way, I will probably end up replacing the top nuts with cap nuts just as soon as I can get to the hardware store. Unlike the Vego, there is no center support piece to keep the long side of the garden bed from bowing out. Time will tell if this will be an issue. The vinyl safety edging is nice. I much prefer this over beds that don't have it. I'd suggest leaving it out in the sun to warm up before attempting to put it around the edge. It goes on smoothly until you get to the edge of the panel, where they're doubled up. It gets even trickier to work it over two panels if the corners are at all bent. The Vego edging seems a bit bigger to accommodate this inevitability. Instructions: The instructions show the washer going on the outside of the bed, against the bolt head. When I put the bed together this way, the nut tended to get pulled through the hole on the inside panel , even when tightened only slightly. The bolt head is plenty large enough to not pull through the holes, so I would suggest putting the washer on the inside, prior to putting on the nut. Lastly, My Olle bed arrived with a number of edges / corners bent, several spots of bubbled paint, and plenty of areas where the paint was rubbed off or scraped off. Most of this wasn't revealed until after I'd gotten the film off and started putting the bed together. This might just be filed under "you get what you pay for." Once I got the plastic film removed, it only took me about an hour to put the bed together by myself.
