Abysmal battery performance.
By Patrick Henry on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024
This trimmer seems super fantastic, what with the power display, two speeds, all the extra stuff. It really isn't that great The numbers on the power display don't really mean anything, the battery is so crummy it doesn't last very long, and when the battery is discharged the trimmer doesn't give you any warning, it just stops right in the middle of using it, even if the display shows you have 48% battery power left. And why did they add the use timer? Who cares how long it was used, you can't reset the use time and it serves no purpose, just a fancy addition to a crummy trimmer. The thing has two speeds, slow and slightly faster, you only ever need to use the faster speed so now you have to push the power button twice instead of just once. Speaking of the power button, this on has a hair trigger and is not recessed, nor does it have a button lock, so if you travel with it you'll arrive with a dead battery because inevitably the power button will get bumped in your kit. They include a power cord that allows you to charge from a USB plug, which is nice, BUT the plug on the trimmer is not standard USB-C, or any other regular USB connector so you have to use only the proprietary cable that came with it. Do not buy this one!

Love this. I have had this for some time now and waited to review this because these take time to understand if it is a good product or not. - USB change holds for a long time. Perfectly charges from a solar USB charging pack. - The trimmer is well design and works in the hand very well. - It has plenty of included attachments to do what the family needs. Not just us guys. I cut my own hair and this trimmer does everything I need and it easy to manage. - It does the ears and private parts hair well. I came from using the 120v Wahl trimmer. Very good device. I like this better.
Good Features for the Cost, Guards Need Improvement

I was looking to replace my cordless trimmer. I never heard of Brightup brand but given the price, I thought I would give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised overall, except for one fatal flaw. If you like to trim to stubble length (1-4mm), you may have to look elsewhere. It has a lot of good features that I was looking for in a trimmer. On the top of the list - Waterproof. None of the big brands have a waterproof trimmer at this price point. Full metal trimmer heads - Many of the cheaper models have a plastic head with metal blades. They tend to be noisier and probably wear quicker. Charge indicator - Many of the cheaper models don't even have a light to indicate charging, let alone a display that shows battery life remaining. (Personally I found the display of usage time after turning off to be a bit pointless, but certainly not a deterrent.) Number of accessories - I don't want to have multiple grooming gadgets, especially when traveling. Battery Life vs. Charge Time - A different trimmer had an 8 hour charge time for 45-60 min run. This one is more reasonable 1.5 hour charging for 90 min run. I've shaved my head and trimmed my facial hair numerous times and is still at over 60%. Dual Speeds - My old Philips Norelco Multigroomer had a "Turbo" button which is nice for thicker hair, but I didn't see any new models that still have multiple speed settings. Cut - These trimmers work well and didn't pull. Build - They look nice and don't feel super cheap. So what could use improvement? The on/ off button is very sensitive and in a poor spot since it's easy to accidentally hit it while shaving. Some of the accessories feel cheap, but most of the other brands do too. The storage tray isn't great. Need to use your own USB adaptor plug for wall charging. For me the fatal flaw is with the guards. I like to keep my facial hair at a stubble length and none of the guards will achieve this. I even looked for other guards and couldn't find one compatible. A common guard length is 3mm (#1 Guard) but I guess what constitutes "3mm" depends on the manufacturer. Spoiler alert: this Brightup 3mm guard is over 6mm. The description also says "Adjustable Trimmer Guard 1/2/3/4mm". I've included a picture of this guard set at the shortest "1mm". It's really more like 5.5mm to the cutting blade. I emailed the seller to ask them about the 1/2/3/4mm adjustment. The reply: "If you do not use the guards, it is 1 mm." I asked if they had any other guards available or if other brands would work. I liked the trimmer and wanted to keep it. Reply: "There are no other guards. Don't use the combs." I know it may sound ridiculous, but this is the single reason I won't be keeping this trimmer. I even tried to justify keeping it, but I'd still have to buy something else to trim my facial hair. I found others trimmers (at higher cost) that have much more control over the desired length and better designed adjustable guards. I can't speak to the longevity of this trimmer, but if you don't mind longer facial hair, I would give this one a try. If you want more of a shorter stubble, I have some other recommendations instead. If they change or improve the guards, I'd consider repurchasing in the future.
Just what I was looking for, perhaps too much! And a fantastic company!

I was looking to replace my Weiss trimmer, which had blades that needed replacing but after receiving the replacements, I had no idea how to do it despite the really vague instructions. Reluctantly threw it out and looked for something that had easy blade replacement and was cordless. This was perfect, and here's why. - Lightweight - Cordless - Sharp blades - Many attachments (See more below) - Long battery life and fast chraging - Digital read-out that was easy to understand. - Great company that stands behind its product The clipper almost has too many attachments, as the stand that holds them all takes up a lot of room on my sink. That's my only gripe. Otherwise, this has been great. And about the company... I accidentally dropped the clipper, and the small tab that held on the comb I was using to trim my beard broke. I emailed the company to see if I could get a replacement. It wasn't defective; I just dropped and broke it. They said I couldn't buy replacements from them and instead sent me the entire set for free--that included 2-day shipping! I'd even offered to pay for them because it was my fault, but they insisted. Wow! So, great product and great company. Couldn't ask for better. -------------------------- 4/7/2022 UPDATE I'm dumbstruck. As I wrote, I broke one of the combs when I dropped the trimmer on the sink. I wrote to the company to request a replacement for the comb, which I was more than willing to pay for because it was my fault. They said they couldn't send a replacement, but would send the whole set free of charge. I thought that was great--amazing, really, given how some companies would respond. Today I got the replacement, all right. It wasn't just the combs, it was an entirely new kit--clipper and all! Brand new in the box! Arrived second-day delivery! No charge! I mean, what company does that???? Wow. I'm still shocked writing this. I can't say enough about both the product and the company. And, just to be clear, I have no relationship with the company, was not paid to write this, and did nothing to offer to write a good review in exchange for a new clipper. I'm just a really surprised and satisfied customer.
Decent, solid trimmer. Excellent Support!

First of all, I have never written a review before. I had to make an exception in this case. I bought the trimmer 7 months ago. I was happy with it, although changing the attachments is a little weird and you have to be careful not to break anything. Once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. I don't use the trimmer all that much, but the charge on the battery lasted 6 months. When I went to charge it, the non standard USB cord was very hard to plug in to the trimmer and nothing happened after I pushed it in as hard as I could. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had a 12 month warranty. I called the provided number and it went to voicemail. Since I also had an email address, I decided to email them rather than leave a message. Before I was even able to start writing I received a call from Support. I was told they would send a replacement out after I provided the necessary information. Within a couple days, I get a package from Amazon. It was just the trimmer itself, no attachments, but that was fine. I plugged it in and the same result - bad fit and no charge. About a week later I received a follow-up email from Support and I informed them the situation, but I told them I wasn't going to worry about it anymore. I few days later, I received a complete trimmer package in the sealed box. This time the plug was a much better fit and it charged as expected. It's extremely rare to experience good, let alone outstanding customer service these days. I could not have had a better experience in this case. I recommend this trimmer for this reason alone. Of course, you can't trim a beard with good customer service, but I found the trimmer itself to be well made out of solid materials. Yes, the attachments are a little wonky, but workable, and hopefully the original unit I got was old stock with the poor fitting USB cable. I like the sold feel of the unit and the many attachment options, all at a resonable price.

I love my hair trimmer! I use it on my beard and to trim my head hair. It works great on my mustache and beard, but it also works great on sideburns and the back of my neck. It's waterproof and I use it in the shower. Charges fast! The attachments are super handy also, The nose hair trimmer, the different attachments are are super easy to switch out and very handy! I have never been nicked by this trimmer which is nice as I use it on my face and neck. I highly recommend this unit. I have had mine for 2 years now and it's still going strong!!

Good for home, good for travel

It's honestly a good traveling grooming kit. If you intend to travel for maybe two weeks or less, you don't need to worry about bringing the charging cable. One good charge before the trip should be more than enough. It's robust, doesn't fail for some random reason, and it does what it's supposed to do. The only "con" I have is that it's not a standard USB-C charging cable. If it was, it would be a near perfect grooming kit. That con is the only reason it's not 5 stars. But for its price, I suppose it's acceptable and I would purchase another if I had to.

Well, So far so good! I’ve had this trimmer for a few months now and it works well. Holds a charge for a long time and I love the two speeds. Plenty of attachments for all different needs. I really like the fact that it tells you the battery life left.
