Still powers 17 yr old Apple 30" monitors
By chelms on Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024
I bought this 2 years ago, and I am extremely pleased with this dock, even with having to use DisplayLink software. - Windows + Mac approved: I've used it with a 2019 Intel Macbook Pro, a System76 Serval running Windows 10, and now an M3 Macbook pro - Software: The DisplayLink Manager software never gets in my way. You can use it to rotate displays, or turn them off independently. - DisplayPorts: I specifically needed to power 2 Dual-DVI 30" Apple Cinema displays (circa 2007); I've got them on DisplayPort adaptors, which are plugged into the dock. - USB ports: Those adaptors each use a USB port for power, but I still have enough USB ports for a keyboard, a Contour Rollermouse, and Wacom tablet. No driver issues.

Crashes my laptop, hard. Ouch.
By JC on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2023
I just spent 6 (SIX) hours trying to resolve the issues with this thing crashing my laptop. I mean CRASHES my laptop. Also, it makes my laptop so slow, so turtle slow, there is ZERO point in having it. It's like, my system performance goes from 100 to 20 when this device is powering two monitors. VERY frustrating. I cannot even begin to tell you all the things I did to resolve this, forums I've read...time I wasted. I'm NOT the only one with this issue. Here's my laptop specs (Win 11) in case you are wondering (purchased here on Amazon, love my laptop!): 2019 HP 17.3" HD+ High Performance Laptop, Intel Quad-Core i5-8265U up to 3.9GHz, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, DVD-RW, WiFi,HDMI, GbE LAN, Windows 10, Black I have two residences, my permanent home, and a small apartment in a neighboring state. I have two monitors at the apartment, and we go to the apartment every once in a while for business purposes, and I bring my laptop with me. When I tried to set this up a couple months ago, I only had one correct cable - it wouldn't work with two different kinds of cables, using HDMI port and Displayport. Nope. We were only here for two days, so I ordered matching HDMI cables and had them sent home, left the docking station at the apartment. I got the docking station to 'work' a few weeks ago, but my laptop crashed a couple times. Today, just arrived back at the apartment, and it crashes every 15 minutes. URGH! This means, after I have finally done all the troubleshooting that I can (new drivers, uninstall/reinstall, etc) I have missed the return window. I haven't even been here (at the apartment) for over a month. I noticed there are other people who have had the same/similar issues with docking stations from this company, some forums all the way back to 2016 - I never saw any that resulted in "hey, its fixed" but instead, users who simply log their attempts to fix this, and simply fade away, seemingly without resolution. I am currently using this as a powered USB 3.0 hub - no drivers necessary for that. Mighty expensive for what it is good for. Even if it worked, the fact that it gets HOT, and has a POWER button to shut it on/off, is mighty odd and would have resulted in the loss of at least one star already. Oh, the LAN port will slow down your internet if you have high speeds like I do. Yay. LOL.
