This is a good, basic layer. The body fabric is lightweight, soft and a bit silky, but I wouldn't call it shiny. The venting fabric up the sides isn't too thin (definitely not see-through) but the texture of the knit seems breathable. Thumb holes are great. Even if you don't use them when you're wearing it, use them while putting on an over-layer. They keep sleeves from sliding up inside the sleeves of the top layer -- one of those life annoyances that's great to avoid. I like that the venting goes all the way up the sides. It's part function and part style. As for workmanship, everything seems straight and even. The fabric orientation is straight, so it fits and hangs straight, and the seams are smooth. I haven't found any rough edges, which drive a sensitive skin person nuts. Top to bottom, I think this is a good value for the price.
