Broan® 21-Inch Custom Range Hood Power Pack, 450 Max Blower (Open Box)

We have owned this for about 2 years. It has worked well, considering the price compared to higher models. The vent seems strong enough. I do have some specific cons...#1 it's very loud. I didn't think this would bother me so I opted out of a more expensive model. Our kitchen and family room are open to each other and when the fan is running, it's distracting to anything else going on. I can't hear over the sound of the fan if I am cooking at the stove.#2 It gets really nasty greasy really quickly. It's not just the filter, but the whole underside. I'm not sure how often to expect disassembling and cleaning, but this seems to gunk up very quickly. Before too long, the grease will drip from the light and fan buttons. I have a 4 burner gas stove, to let you know the amount of cooking we do. I clean the filter regularly, but it gunks up quicker each time because I can't ever remove all the grease. I have been looking for some replacement filters but haven't found any yet. I wish the filters were thicker, because there is grease all over the internal parts of the fan as well, grease that has slipped through the filter. I wonder how long before this causes motor problems??#3 Button Settings - there are different speeds, and my button seems to only prefer the highest fan speed. Sometimes it doesn't turn on until I crank it all the way up. I think the buttons themselves feel a little cheap.#4 Light is so-so. If a lot of light is important to you, I'd go with another model. This gives off light, but not enough to consider it task-lighting.Again, decent option for the price. Be prepared to clean very regularly. This is my first ducted hood vent so I'm not sure what is reasonable to expect.
