Really 4.5 stars BUT...
By J. A. Kelly on Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2022
Look I am not an audiophile, nor a super advanced tech user. I am someone that watches a decent amount of TV and really loves fantasy / sci-fi movies. I recently bought an LG C1 65" OLED TV to replace a circa 2009 Sony Bravia LCD. Okay all that to say, I never thought the sound from the C1 was actually all that bad considering how thin the TV is. But I wanted more sound, and I wanted something with more depth/surround/3D than what my TV was giving me. I also didn't want to spend a fortune. This sound bar is blowing me away so far, especially for the price of $249. The unit came in what seemed like original vizio packaging. Each component was pristine. Setup was mostly easy through the dedicated earc - realized only one HDMI port on my TV was earc, so had to swap to that port. No biggie. The unit will cycle through searching for a connection on each of its various inputs, but you can override the search and just select whichever input you want. I have now run my 4k blu ray player into the soundbar, which will then run that to the TV. this feature works great (called pass through). The dolby atmos sounds really really good. I really don't miss the upfiring speaks at all. Granted I've never had them, but the sound coming at you from the front (soundbar) and the rear (small satellite speakerss + subwoofer) is great! watched a few high action movies with Dolby atmos and the sound didn't lag at all. Was really great and sounded so sharp. WOW. this setup is great and I highly recommend. The multiple types of input is great. I love that the power for both subwoofer and soundbar is a a simple small 2 prong plug, not a bulky adapter.why the missing half star? the interface / unit indicator on the soundbar itself is all done through various dots. The manual for what all the patterns of dots can mean is overwhleming. thankfully the remote does have a little lcd screen that kind of tells you what you're doing. fully decoding what the dots are telling you requires a WWII code breaker. It's 2022, we've got be able to do better than a series of lit or unlit dots. Not a big deal, but not great. The other portion of the star removal is when you change an input, or a setting, it's like the voice of God is speaking through the soundbar to tell you what you've done. Just imagine God speaking to Moses on Mt. Sinai saying "bluetooth" or "movie". It's way over the top.since it was refurbished, i purchased the extra 2 year coverage for $25. I really love this sound bar system and am VERY happy I bought it. If you want an affordable great sounding atmos setup, this might be for you!

*Buying Refurbished is a Gamble*
By G.W. on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2022
I wanted to love this sound system. Decent reviews and a great price. But, this was not the case. Read on....I have bought many products refurbished and usually with no issues. Whenever you buy refurbished/renewed, you are taking a gamble. Unfortunately, with this purchase, I lost. The sound system arrived in a "beat to death" box but everything inside was in decent condition. The soundbar had scratches here and there but nothing you couldn't live with.Setting up the system was relatively simple. Got everything up and running and tested it out. Sound from the system was pretty good except no bass. Satellite speakers and soundbar worked with no issues. Ran through Vizio's trouble shooting 5 times, still no sound from the subwoofer. Speaker tests after every try verified the issue with the subwoofer. Did the obligatory google search and found that subwoofer issues with Vizio systems is commonplace. Tried all the reddit and YouTube fixes to no avail. Last fix was to replace the fuse in the subwoofer, which I did not attempt. The company responsible for the reconditioning/refurbishing should have ensured that this system was 100% functional.Sending the system back and will take the advice of others on reddit to avoid Vizio soundbars and look into Samsung or Sony.TLDR:To save you a possible headache, If you do decide to purchase this system renewed/refurbished - check the tape on the cable packages. If they have reddish-brown cat hair, it's the system I sent back. The subwoofer doesn't work.
