Day one…loving it. (And here are some Wi-Fi s/u considerations if you, too, had difficulties)
By KH on Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2022
FYI: I tried a robot vacuum previously but was uninspired, at best. My mother’s love of her Eufy (and she has had a variety of robot vacuums) combined w finding myself on crutches for the next few weeks, has inspired me to try again. I had adjusted my expectations for this purchase. However, I think that for the price she (aka “the good child”) has done a fine job. (I don’t expect her to spring clean, but I do expect to not feel the need to walk in the door and clean the floor…which she has accomplished. Sadly, she had plenty of catching up to do on this first day at work.) She does a nice job of trying to maintain her Z-path despite obstacles and is notably less random than most of these I have seen. Either way, she eventually seems to come back to touch bases with all the places she is able to reach. She’s only cleaning downstairs and the floor plan is generally pretty open. The dog, though initially concerned (whining at her as if to ask her to stop), eventually got used to her and responded little when she ran into him a few times. The tile-depth jump that she had to do on the periphery of LR didn’t phase her. (The previous one I had couldn’t remotely deal with the height difference.) And she found her way home on her first voyage, though she did initially seem to be trying to take the direct route through the wall on the other side of the charging station. I initially was unable to establish connection to the Wi-Fi, as I noted in other posts. I called Eufy to get a rather condescending, though eventually helpful, individual who noted the following… (Why is this not in the sad instructions??!! And why would he be condescending when apparently he’s had to explain this a few times when the initial s/u efforts failed?) Push on-off 5x, ending in the on position when Eufy should verbally acknowledge you. Then press and hold the top ON button until she again speaks/beeps. (Mine spoke. She’s brilliant!) **Make sure you are standing very close to your home router while right next to/holding Eufy (who does not have to be on the base, though should be adequately charged). Exit and then restart the Eufy app. Work through the s/u to get to the Wi-Fi setting. (On my Android I selected my Eufy and clicked connect. It still said I had no internet but I was connected. Then press the back button to return to the Eufyhome screen.) Then I was shown a % progress for connection that rapidly completed and allowed me to finish the s/u. :-) I’ll try to update if things change, but I’m currently quite happy with my purchase.

Great Inexpensive Unit. Not For Large Homes
By C. Koster on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2022
Updated 12/16/2022 (Beethoven's 252nd birthday) - I'm returning this unit because I've upgraded to one which suits my needs much better: Eufy X8 Hybrid. My review will be posted there. Reasons are that the G20 Hybrid has no mapping feature. And without a mapping feature you cannot create zones for mopping. So the mopping part is impractical if you have carpeting or rugs which are not easily lifted or moved. Also, after a few uses, I realized that G20 Hybrid has a difficult time finding its charging station. I watched as it unsuccessfully drained its battery bumping into the same furniture in the same vicious cycle,...not arriving at the charging station. I had put it into a higher suction mode and waited to see what it would do when the battery got low. At that point, it automatically returns to its charging station. But went in the same circles, bumped and fumbled like it was drunk, for about a half hour on low battery before the battery went dead and it errored out. The X8 Hybrid is much more successful and quicker at sussing out and arriving at its charging station. This is because of its much (underlined) improved mapping feature, It made all the difference in the world. What follows is my original review: There are plenty of pro's for this Robovac: Ease of use with the App. It covers the area thoroughly. It is relatively quiet. It fits under most furniture. It can get itself unstuck from most tight spaces. And then there its foibles.... Having a Robovac presents a trade-off of inconveniences. I dislike dragging the vacuum around from room to room, plugging it in, etc. A robot makes this easier. BUT, the waste compartment needs to be emptied frequently. With 3 dogs, the hair is more than plentiful. I don't know where the Robovac finds it. It seems to be everywhere. (Excuse me, I just had to spit some dog hair out that somehow got in my mouth. Yuk!! See what I mean?...) I see plenty of more expensive robo's that have a self-waste-emptying feature. If you have a large living space, this may look better on paper than in practice. It's easier to simply pause the robo every ten minutes, using the iPhone app or Alexa, and empty the box, and then resume. This is a Robovac that you will have to pick up and place in each room for cleaning. It takes forever to find its charging station, if it finds it at all. But it does clean the entire space, and while the G20 Hybrid doesn't provide or make a map of where it's been, it "knows" and will stop when it has cleaned the entire space. As for the app. Here's the trick. It requires 2.4GHz broadband. But don't worry. If you have 5GHz with ATT, like many of us, there is a 2.4GHz signal riding in there. When you go to activate this feature, it will hard stop if the name of your WiFi has 5G anywhere in it. Even if it is a hybrid. So, for example, if your WiFi has the nickname, Dogpoop 5G, the app will prevent you from setting it up. Even if its a hybrid of 5G and 2.4G. The 5G in the name is enough to kill the set-up process. You'll need to alter the name to Dogpoop (remove 5G from the name) in order for it to connect. And it will. But be aware that when you do this, you will have to reconnect your entire smart home to the newly named Dogpoop Wifi because the name has changed. The mopping feature is useless if you have carpeting, or the occasional throw rug. And it uses water, not detergent. If you turn the feature on, it mops EVERYTHING. It does not distinguish between rug and hard floor. So forget the mopping feature; it is a red herring. I am still looking for the perfect Robovac. This one is close. But it may not be it.
