This Samsonite carry-on saved me from gate-checking chaos!
By Baz on Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2025
I absolutely love this carry-on! It is the perfect size for both domestic and international travel, compact enough to fit in overhead bins but surprisingly spacious thanks to its expandable sides. On a recent flight to Montreal to visit my daughter, the plane was packed, and several passengers had to gate-check their bags. But the crew let me through with my adorable, compact Samsonite, while others weren’t as lucky. The 360° spinner wheels make maneuvering through airports a breeze, and the scratch-resistant hardshell still looks brand new after a few trips. It’s also lightweight, which helps avoid extra fees, and the TSA-approved lock gives me peace of mind. When I landed, the weather was so beautiful that I decided to walk 30 minutes along Ste-Catherine Street from the metro station to my daughter’s place, with my suitcase rolling beside me like it weighed nothing! The smooth wheels handled sidewalks and curbs effortlessly, and the lightweight design made it feel like I wasn’t even pulling luggage. If you want a reliable, airline-friendly carry-on that won’t let you down, this one’s a winner. Highly recommend! No cons so far for me.

Okay quality, but carry-on is too small!
By Ryan Zulawski on Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2025
I got the 2 piece Omni 2 in white. It’s decent quality, but design issues stop me from recommending. We’ll see on the durability. I bought the carry on and large 2 piece set on an Amazon deal. Build quality feels decent; wheels and handle are sturdy. The Omni 2 hard case is a bit softer/more flexible than i expected but I hope that helps it absorb bumps rather than breaking like my last suitcase. My biggest complaints are regarding the carryon size and design… I was surprised at how small the carry on is height and width wise, and the zipper compartment in particular is very small and shallow compared to my prior carryons greatly limiting its usefulness… compounding the shallowness is the extending handle which is nice and thick but takes up maybe 10% of the middle of this already shallow zipper compartment volume… the design is very limiting what you can store in there (couldn't fit my fully loaded toiletry bag due to its shallowness… which i had no problem fitting in my old Kenneth Cole carryon). Then as a smaller complaint there’s the battery pack pouch which I find to be more of a gimmick and in the way, unfortunately this too takes up a decent amount of storage in the main unzippered compartment and is not detachable. There’s also a small zip compartment in the zipper side but it’s too small to fit a belt or tie or anything a compartment like that normally would be used for. As a sort of compromise I suppose, the expandable section of the carryon does seem a little larger than my prior carryon, to get some additional depth in the main compartment which is nice… but this means all your clothes will be just heaped into the one side… and it doesn’t solve the real issue of the short height and width… as a guy I’m barely able to fit a pair of size 11 sneakers in. (In my old carryon I could easily fit a couple pairs, my toiletry bag and clothes with ease.) I have not used the larger unit yet but it seems to be decent especially since size/shape are the limiting factors on the carry on. Overall the luggage is fine for the price, but I find the design choices very frustrating. Looking at the rest of Samsonites lines it seems like they’ve intentionally made this cheaper Omni 2 product too small and with lesser utility in order to push people to buy their more expensive lines. I find that pretty aggravating andthese still cost a decent chunk of money, and it makes me less interested in their brand. Overall, it’s fine luggage is fine, but thinking about the intentional compromises is frustrating.
