Calphalon 15-PC Knives w/ Self-Sharpening Block

Great knife set

Believe me when I say these are the best knives I have used . This knife set is an amazing value for the money you pay. When you get your box there is a diagrams that shows where each knife goes in the knife block. So this takes a lot of the guess work out of it. The block has wonderful storage capacity and fits nicely on my counter top. Each knife has a great weight to it , but not too heavy. The knifes vary and this makes it a complete set. I was able to chop and dice with ease . I really love this set. You have to try it.

Great knife set, quality product that I believe in. I bought a different brand of knives and they rusted the first time I used them, so I ordered these and they have been great.

The knives are weirdly loose in the block, which i hate, but they’re good knives and it was on sale so that’s fine.

These are good quality and don't rust if washed by hand and dried right away. I love the built in sharpener. I just wish the steak knives weren't seated so they could be sharpened as well.

These are very nice. The block is attractive, the self-sharpening function is great, and the knives are well balanced and very sharp. They do a great job of cutting things cleanly and easily. The only downside is that they are handwash only, which isn't a deal breaker since I already have them, but maybe would have deterred me from ordering them if I had noticed before ordering.

Knives are sharp and have a sharpener. The steak knives handles are very slender and hard to use for those with dexterity issues or have a bigger grip. Most of the knives are lightweight.

These do not live up to the Calphalon knifes I have used before. These are a less expensive version of their other knife sets, if you’re a professional you may want to look for a bit better leave higher level of this brand. That being said these new coated blades I have never used, they are coated with a not stick coating that also has a “ridge” on the shelf knife and the slicer , I’ll follow up with this review to rate these items. The “full tang” is a bit misleading the tang only runs on the top of the handle, there is glue on the blade bolster. The factory grinding of the blade dose not go to the bolster on the steak knifes. There are dark spots on the shaft edge on many blades, showing that the sharpening was not consistent. If your looking to add some better knifes to add to your daily use kitchen knifes I would recommend this set, however if your looking to add high quality professional set chef knifes I would you consider a higher level of this brand.

Sure, there are silly expensive super high quality knives that are better, but I have one of these tucked into a block which is otherwise full of J A Henkles 4 Stars. The Calphalon knife more than holds its own with the blades that are literally three times the price. Good handle design reduces fatigue, and no blisters from a stamped blade and riveted scales.
