Simple Deluxe Reptile Heat Bulb & Clamp Light

The separate heat controls work fine with an Incandescent Red IR heat lamp, but the ceramic elements didn’t put out near the amount heat that I expected. The fixtures are fine (basic spring clamp on) but only rated for 150w (non ceramic socket) so I had to use the ones I already had with ceramic sockets for safety if I used any other type bulbs. I was just really disappointed in the output. You could maybe use these as hand warmers but don’t expect heat transfer over a wider area, just didn’t carry that far. Maybe a different set of bulbs would work better, but mine were only fair. The visible red IR bulbs carried further, don’t think I have seen these type ceramics used in bathrooms either, just the visible Red IR bulbs and now I know why. They have a reflector in the bulb, these ceramic type resemble flat all glass no reflector built into the bulb that I can tell, seems just counting on the aluminum housing of the bulb holder to redirect heat. I’ll stick with the visible bulb IR type instead. The chickens agree…
