Works great for Mediacom Xtreme internet
By Devon on Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2025
Had connected for a little over a week now and no problems with my refurbished unit. Unit looks like new and doesn’t have any visual defects. Set up was kind of a pain. I used the nighthawk app and it couldn’t find my modem to connect. After playing around with it abit I managed to get it registered and set up through the online website that was on the papers it came with. After I registered it to my account it worked flawlessly on the app. I then called Mediacom and told them I connected a new modem and got it registered to their system. Once I got all that done (about an hour) I actually had higher speeds and more coverage than the one I was paying $15 a month for. I have the 300mbps plan and get speeds anywhere from 288 to 316. So far it seems like a good unit especially with at the price I bought it at it will pay for itself in 9 months!

DO NOT BUY! BEWARE!
By Tyler O. on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2025
DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE (CAX30). I have had previous Netgear devices and have not had any issues. However, this is a faulty device that Netgear is aware of - hence why so many refurbished units are available. I have 800mbps internet plan and I only get 135mbps on 5G standing right next to device and when I'm a plugged directly into the router/modem, I am only getting speeds around 180mbps. This is absolutely unacceptable. Had ISP provider at my house 2 times for this issue and they confirmed everything was working on their end and they also tested all cabling/wiring in and to home. They then used their own testing modem and router after all of this troubleshooting and BAM - internet speeds are exactly as they should be and actually getting above 800mbps. This test verifies that the issue is isolated to something on this Netgear modem/router. Our assumption is a firmware or software problem that cause extreme bottlenecking and reduced speeds. However we verified with Netgear that I do in fact have the latest firmware installed currently. They have no answers or suggestions and talk in circles constantly. Repeatedly advising me to do yet another factory reset. Throughout this ordeal, I talked to Netgear support directly 4 times to attempt to resolve my issues. No one had a clue and kept reading from the same script. They neither helped the matter or assisted in any way and at times gave counterproductive input that further complicated the issues. Needless to say I will no longer be a Netgear customer. Selling faulty equipment and offering mediocre customer service is not something I will sign up for again and I highly recommend no one buys this unit/model as you will have nothing but problems and issues with no assistance to solve. Save yourself the time, money, and headache. Trust the bad reviews and Google this model to see about all the issues this device has that Netgear is fully aware of but continues to sell this product and do nothing about.
