Best case for both keyboard and ipad protection
By Ambix on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2023
Have owned this for almost a year now so this isn’t an out of the box review. So I’ve tested about 10 different cases and this one is still on top, primarily for its keyboard. If you’re reading this you’re probably equally frustrated by all these other cases promising you instant connectivity and great responsiveness- only to sit down and attempt to write a paper that ends up with annoying typos and double letters where there shouldn’t be. Looking at you, Brydge. Especially for those working in fields with uncommon terminology or various languages that require disabling autocorrect, having “aaaa” instead of “a”s all the time can make you feel like chucking your iPad at the wall. No problems with that here, and everything’s still working smoothly after a year. So, keyboard is great. The key feel is similar to a MacBook, which I’m already used to, a bit small but expected since i have an 11” 2021 model. The trackpad works perfect for me, but I usually use the touchscreen and pencil so have limited comment.Durability! I’m pretty clumsy and have definitely dropped my ipad more than a couple of times. Amazingly no scratches or damage at ALL- can’t say the same with my older iPad Pro and it’s not so magic keyboard (RIP). Yes this case is a bit heavier but absolutely worth it. The case stays closed with magnets and wraps around the corner edges, and is a tiny bit bigger than the iPad itself which gives a little border for extra protection.Age of Covid= need to sanitize after coffee shop stints? Check. I’ve used alcohol wipes and even purell on occasion after a plane ride, working at the coffee shop, library, or sitting in a public area, and this PVC-ish cloth material it’s made of has held up just fine. I don’t anticipate dousing it for years to come, but for now there’s been no issue in terms of needing to get rid of any germs that might ride home.In short- well done Logitech. My family’s used Logitech brand keyboards, speakers, mice, etc, and for me this case continues to perform up to standard. Hope this helps others, and I’ll update this review as I continue to use this! —UPDATE I was considering switching to logitechs slim folio, which has nearly the same high quality responsive keyboard, but without a trackpad and with a flap for your pencil. The slim one is going back- it’s actually thicker than the combo, and because of the way it props up (the keyboard is only activated once it clicks into place), there’s only one possible position for the tablet. So, the Combo remains the winner in my list of keyboard/cases for my iPad.

Serviceable yet aggressively mediocre
By Voluminous Rancor on Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2023
I don't know why Amazon wants me to rate this on its touch screen, or battery, because it doesn't have either.Battery: there is no battery as the keyboard is powered by Smart Connect, which has a nice magnetic connection.Keyboard: The backlight is fine, no complaints. The keyboard is very small and cramped, but I have large hands. Others may have a better time, but if I have access to a larger keyboard that's what I'll be using, this keyboard is suitable for emails, browsing, etc. But if I am writing something substantial or coding or something it's time to use a big boy input device. I have not used the magic keyboard to compare them. It really is fine though, and the globe key provides the ability to do the kind of old school OS level keyboard shortcuts that some of us prefer from way back in the day, I'm sure some people really get into them. It's cool to not always have to reach up and touch the screen. This thing is definitely serviceable and I am glad I own it rather than nothing, don't get me wrong.Trackpad:Wanted to give another star for the excellent trackpad, but this thing's overall mediocrity makes its best feature not as great a selling point. Anyway it works well and clicks well.Case: My beef with this case is how flimsy the kickstand is. This thing is trying to be both a kickstand style case and a keyboard attachment, and its weakness is in the kickstand. The edge of the stand is very flimsy and has caused my iPad Pro to topple forwards or backwards many times when trying to get a better angle. I have been thinking of how to stabilize the stand and I think a fold-out lip would go a really long way, or even just a 3d printed 'foot' or something to wedge it into when you're trying to get something done. It's a pretty terrible experience for a case keyboard combo that costs this much money. The viewing angles are very limited in keyboard mode, if you put it at too acute an angle the iPad topples forward onto your hands. There is nothing to stabilize it. So you can never really be sure you can safely get real work done even if you place it on a desk. If on a softer surface such as a lap, the tiny lip of the kickstand provides almost zero stability. That is, if your lap is even long enough to accommodate the rear kickstand plus the full length of the keyboard and your iPad doesn't fall off your knees. I could see using it laptop style if you had a tray in your lap.How I find this useful: as bad as this design is at what it's designed for, if you reverse the keyboard attachment and use it as a way to prop the kickstand, you get a sturdy easel-like configuration for art or taking notes by hand. This is how I actually use it in my lap, and something that I find genuinely useful about it. However, this probably damages the keys and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have as much contempt for this device's tiny keyboard as I do.Case: I can't stand the way this thing picks up dirt. It's like a dirt magnet. The soft fibers are like a sponge gathering your finger oils, any ambient grime that you accidentally put your iPad near, what have you. I'm not a dirty person and after a couple months the thing has a patina of finger oils in certain places. The fabric has also shown how it will wear, probably not great, this thing's houndstooth grey pattern will look pretty shabby in a year or two.Looks: I dig the fabric, that's kinda elegant. The case itself is a muddy tan that seems maybe inspired by the military? Or something? I really don't get why it is this color, and this really isn't why you're buying this case. You're buying it because you need something cheaper than a Magic Keyboard. My theory is that they know this, therefore they're making it as ugly as possible so that you know you're not getting the premium experience. It's fine. It's "professional" or whatever to have an ugly computing device anyway.Overall: it's fine, whatever. It will get the job done but you will spend a lot more time adapting to its limitations than enjoying using it.
