Die hard ipad fan. Bury me with my iPad pleas
By John T on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2022
I purchased one of the first iPads. I think Steve Jobs might have still been alive. I LOVED THAT IPAD. I was told I was dumb because the second version would come out soon with all the crap gone and I’d wish I could get that one. WRONG! I did get the second generation and gave my blue color husband my 1st generation. It was a great way for him to learn how to use it. He still loves his iPads. It’s been a great routine and we’ve done it every since. I purchased my 12.9 iPad Pro 2021. This was my 2nd 12.9 if I remember correctly. It’s a little soon to do it again but my last iPad is giving me problems I’ve never had. After I have used my iPad long enough to get the iPad warmed up the buttons start not responding for me. Like in Amazon if I push to see a video about a product it will not show that video. I can try to start that video for an hour with no response. If I open my older iPad or one of our two iPhones the video works immediately. This happens on a very regular basis now. The iPad itself almost feels slightly bent. The iPad is so thin that this worries me. In fact when we purchased it it really did worry me so we purchased really nice and firm holders. I am so frustrated, is anyone else having my same problem? I would like to keep the system we have going. It’s to soon to get a new one, especially now that we are retired and on very fixed incomes. I will always be a die hard ipad owner. But I need one to last me longer. Any suggestions. Can iPad give me some support or credit here? Anyone that can help this old lady would be appreciated. I still think this is hands down the best tablet on the market. It would probably beat any lap top and most desk tops in my mind. This is getting bad enough I’m afraid it’s going to quit working. It’s taken care of because only I or my husband or occasionally a family adult might use it, that is rare though. Everybody knows to leave my iPad alone. One last problem. Why do the charging cables not last very long.

Great 12.9-inch iPad Pro with 1 warning
By Wayne H on Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2024
Having used a 10 inch iPad, and iPad Air, for many years, there was a LOT to love about the 12.9 screen on the PRO wit mini-LED; 1. Its a lot bigger, so nice for viewing 2. Its a lot brighter 3. The sound seemed better 4. Battery life is excellent 5. Performance is excellent 6. Blacks, & Contrasts, are much better than my IPAD & IPAD Air (See warning below) There is a small issue, & one major issue. The unit is thin & heavy. Add a case, and its even heavier. So be aware of that, especially if you hand hold for a long time. That should be expected, so that my small issue. The biggest issue by far, and not known at the time of purchase (never disclosed by Apple) is when using this in dark locations, like reading or watching TV/Movie in bed WITHOUT LIGHTS ON. During the day things are crisp & nice, and very clear. In dark location there is "blooming" where bright white backlighting leaks out from white text (or objects) into the black areas. So; 1. During the day, a black screen with white writing (or the time, or photos etc) is clear & crisp, with good contrast. Easy to view, or read, etc 2. In the dark, the same looks awful, with a hallo around white wording the leaks into the black. Even the lock screen looks bad. For such a expensive top of the line IPAD, it was surprising to have such a visible display issue, especially given my much cheaper IPAD don't have this issue. Buy a cheaper IPAD that uses LED (not mini-leds), or if you are use to OLED TV's & love true blacks and great contrast, without a hallo effect (like my 8 year old LG OLED TV) get the new OLED versions of the iPad. Please do note though, if you are using it at night, for example in the evening, and have lights on, this isn't a noticeable issue, its in a dark room with no lighting. If using only during the day, or evening with lighting, I would have rated this 5 star. Unfortunately I use this a lot in dark locations, so given there was no disclosure of this issue by Apple, and it was promoted as their best iPad, its only 3 STAR. (Not 4 star, because my $200 iPad is better in a dark location!) If you are interested this model, and intend to use in a dark location, check photos or video reviews of this blooming issue first. (It's hard to view in retail shops or the Apple store, because they are too light)

Waited to upgrade for several years - worth it!

I’ve owned a lot of iPads - minis and regular iPads for the kids. I had an iPad Pro second generation I originally bought to watch movies when I travel for work and to take notes. My wife took it over when she became obsessed with Procreate (a drawing application). Over time the battery got worse and worse and the performance dropped. At one point she couldnt update the application anymore. We bought the iPad Pro 5th generation as a pre release. Like all things Apple, you’re definitely paying a premium but for someone who is serious about their art of craft - worth it. Pros: + the processing power is a BEAST. It’s effortless and smooth. The M1 makes a huge difference. + the camera is amazing and the depth sensor opens worlds of possibilities for immersive, but you’ll likely rarely use it + it’s an Apple so the resell value is great. This reduces the cost of ownership because when you upgrade in a few years you can still sell for a good amount. Neutral (compared to the Gen2): - the Mini LED feels a bit hyped. The screen in side by side comparisons wasn’t noticeably better in my opinion. If you’re not a professional who relies on nuanced color calibration, etc. you may not notice a difference. I am a photographer and don’t think most people will notice a difference. - the form factor remains largely unchanged. With a case it’s still a heavy machine relatively speaking. Negatives - price. I got the 256GB plus a case and a pencil. It’s a big chunk on money for most people. Most people should stick with an Air or regular iPad. Throw in the keyboard and some dongles and taxes and you’ve cleared two thousand pretty easily. - the form factor is slightly thicker than Gen4 so while I got a case which fit, the Apple Pencil didn’t charge. So if you need pencil charging, get a Gen5 case. - Apple really needs to just commit to one port type. This is lightning (USB C) which is great, but most apple products are still lightning. More of an annoyance, but make up your mind Apple! - it’s almost a PC replacement but not quite there for most people. Certain user types may be able yo replace their PC or Mac but I still see it as a secondary device.
2nd Successful Amazon Ipad Pro Purchase!

Short Version: comprehensive, intuitive, beginner friendly, incredible clarity My first Apple iPad Pro purchase through Amazon was for a used 1st gen in December 2016, my current model was purchased December 2021, I’ve had a fantastic experience with each. (The 1st gen is currently enjoyed by Dad.) I appreciate the availability, lower price, and quick shipping on Amazon, through Amazon Prime. My current IpadPro is fantastic thus far, returning to a PC is not an option. Apple is intuitive and comprehensive, everything works together, including Iphone and AppleTV, though one can keep everything separate if that’s the preference. I don’t have to remember logins or passwords either (one less thing). A new user may wish to press every button to see what it does, for example the tiny icon of a gear is for “SETTINGS’, so touch everything on the list, top to bottom, to become more familiar with function, do the same with the apps— anyway that’s what I did. The fantastic organization and over all security is an appreciated feature too. A few things are lacking for hard-core users, but for one who primarily writes and dabbles in art, it has everything required to suit my needs. Amazingly, whether new or old, every iPad sold is kept up-to-date for YEARS through Apple updates—my seven year old 1st gen iPad Pro has the latest operating system, iOS 15 thus far, same as as my latest model So cool— PS. RE BLOOMING: for my eyes the brightness level is turned down so even if blooming was an issue, I wouldn’t care in the least because even at a low setting everything is striking clear and visible. Frankly, the highest setting is so bright I can’t imagine anyone leaving it on.
Just as good as the 2022 save your money-Bought this as an upgrade to my 11inch pro

Let me start by saying this is just as good as the 2022 based on my limited experience. I was waiting for the 2022 to replace my 2016 11ch pro. When the 2022 came up this was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. I am not cheap with tech so I was willing to pay the extra to ha e the latest and greatest but after many hours of reviews and looking through things they are the same basically with minor changes that unless you are uniquely going to use them will make no difference. Obviously there us the m1 v m2 thing. That was what worried me but essentially this is a high end tablet low end laptop. The m1 is overkill for most use cases already. If I'm wrong in the future I'll take the L. If tings were equal I'd take the m2. If the price was $100 difference I'd pay it but this was much more. The other thing was the hover pencil. Not impressed. My Samsung does that it's not that night of a deal to me and I don't draw on this so did not effect me. What I will say is the battery drains. My 11in pro goes weeks without seeing a charger based on my use and sitting in standby. This drains with a bit of use. If you are a heavy user keep a charger near by that is my take away. With the 11 I can use it a few days and then need to charge. This lasts maybe a day or so. Take that for what it's worth.

Nice, fast, and durable 2021 Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi‑Fi + Cellular 256 Gb

This is a 5th generation iPad Pro, 2021 Apple 12.9 inch Wifi+ Cellular with 256GB. I love this iPad because it is unique, nice, strong, and fast connection. I can use this iPad pro both with wifi and cellular. I insert a mobile sim card into its sim tray and I can be used it as a cellular phone. I can surf, watch youtube, listen to music online, and much more. I can use it anywhere and anytime with the cellular. When I am at home or any place with a wifi connection, it automatically switches the connection to the wifi. This Ipad Pro has a 5G connection. Any place that doesn't have a 5G connection then it will automatically switch to LTE. I have to buy an apple pencil separately, and it works very well. I love this iPad pro because I can do much more with it. Its battery lasts long. It can be used as long as 3 days before it recharges. I purchased this iPad pro on Amazon through Apple Store on Amazon. It is safe to purchase an iPad pro here on Amazon. I received this iPad pro exactly as to what it describes. They shipped fast and they wrapped very carefully. There are no cracks or dents when I received it. On the day of delivery, they required a signature when I received it. I decide to purchase this iPad pro on Amazon because I don't want to wait a long line at the Apple Store. Overall, this is a perfect iPad Pro and I love it very much!
Such a nice device despite of Apple

Ok, so just to give some context, I'm a professional Illustrator, I usually work with Wacom Cintiq 13 HD, but I decided to take the plunge and try the Ipad Pro with the apple pencil and Procreate, which I started using 3-4 weeks ago. The good: -The machine is very powerful, it holds several applications open at once. -The combo Ipad-Apple pencil is amazing, the pencil feels very smooth. -I love Apples already included software, like numbers or Garage Band. -The Screen (inner side)! I don't know if I'm blind or just not used to nuances, but I don't see blooming anywhere. -I love the speakers, it makes the Ipad vibrate, so if I'm drawing I can feel the vibration. Still has amazing sound. The bad: -Apple is asking for your ID all the time. Literally. -And (if you did like me and changed your ID right after the initial setup) you will have to be juggling from one ID to another in order to Update the included apps. -The Updates (I'm looking at you IOS 16) are a pain. Some programs keep crashing since this update or behaving abnormally. -Almost every app is paid, but hey, I come from Android/Windows. -I don't know if it's the new Updates but I have some issues with procreate and the graphic card (especially after updating to IOS 16. Yay.). The Meh: -Stage manager (I rather have the standard window setup). -The battery. It handles Procreate/Spotify/Reference board app open for 5 hours, so I need to charge it every day, especially if I keep drawing a lot. -The screen (outer side) 2 words: FINGERPRINTS GALORE, although humid microfiber cloth works like a charm. Overall, the machine is wonderful, but Apple is its main issue. I can use the Ipad for some productive tasks (like invoicing, emailing, record keeping, or using the calendar), but it's quite difficult to be working on Procreate for several hours (or even using Safari) when it crashes or has some weird bugs because of an update. Despite of that, I still love this machine, but I would love for them to take their users seriously since this is an expensive piece of hardware.

iPad is Great, iPadOS is not

It's an ipad, screen is beautiful, battery life is great and you can browse the web. Switching between Keyboard, Touch and Pencil is easy but can be finicky depending on the application. For about 95% of people they will be able to do everything they need to do on a tablet and what they'd need from a laptop so it justifies the price. If you already have a mac laptop and you travel it's a must buy for the screen extension, essentially giving you a dual monitor setup where ever you go. There are a few things you cannot do though which bothers me. With the switch to M1 chipset, which is the same as the macbook air and MBP 13" I was hoping it'd be closer to a laptop replacement like the surface provides but since it's still running ipadOS there are holes. There's no full featured IDE, there's one that support very specific languages or ones that are cloud based but local development can't be done unless you want to do it in a notepad. The Excel apps I've used on it are weird and limited, you can view already created spreadsheets but ones that I tried to create new were a giant pain to get going (trying to do column/row formatting in Google Sheets was a terrible experience. The browser apps for both of these issues solve the problem but if you're in the car or public transit trying to get work done it's not really possible and for that reason I regret not getting a cellular model. Hopefully Apple extends the OS to better support the features for this (which it obviously can handle from a hardware perspective now), but I doubt it since it'd draw away from the laptop market. Time will tell.
