Another Great Samsung Product
By Rich on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2025
We have two of these, about 2 years in daily use now with zero issues. Excellent resolution options and very good performance across the board. Would definitely buy these again. We also have Samsung TV's in the house and have never had issues with any of the three even though they are on daily for most of the day.

Great monitor with one pretty large flaw.
By JustMe on Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2021
This is a great monitor and works very well with my M1 MacBook Pro. The stand it is on is very heavy and sturdy and allows a great range angles in all directions. The problem I have with this monitor is its use as a USB-C Dock, in that respect it is pretty terrible, at least with a M1 MacBook Pro. If the MacBook is on and awake when you plug it into the monitor via USB-C the monitor will wake up and everything works great, including the USB-C Dock with all its ports. Very nice. But, if you plug in your M1 MacBook Pro via USB-C while the laptop is either off, or asleep, the monitor wakes up for about a min, and then goes back to sleep. If the MacBook is connected and working (awake) but then you walk away and it is configured to go to sleep, the monitor when it sees the laptop go to sleep also goes to sleep. The problem is that when the monitor goes to sleep it puts the USB-C port to sleep as well, and it stops charging the laptop. The only way to keep charging the laptop is to not ever let the laptop go to sleep or shut down. As soon as the laptop either shuts down or goes to sleep, the monitor turns off the USB-C port and stops charging the laptop. So if you are off using the laptop on battery, get back home, and plug it into the USB-C port, it won't charge overnight unless you turn the laptop on manually and set it to never sleep. I opened a ticket with Samsung because I consider this to be "broken", but they insist that it is designed to work that way and hence nothing is wrong. As a monitor, they are correct. As a USB-C hub, that is fundamentally broken. Hence as a monitor this thing should get all 5 stars, but as a USB-C hub, it should get 1 as it is basically worthless as a USB-C hub. I suspect that Samsung could fix this problem with a software patch to the monitor, but of course they won't fix it because they insist it is not broken, making my customer experience with Samsung pretty bad too. All in all, if you do not care about the USB-C hub this is a great monitor, but if you care about the USB-C hub aspect, look elsewhere. Samsung, if you see this post, please consider fixing this bug in the software of your monitor. If you do, I will gladly update this review.

I've used iMacs for years and this year Apple stopped making the 27-inch iMac - of course, right when I had to replace mine. I bought the Mac Studio which needs a monitor vs the all-in-one of the iMac. I couldn't afford the Apple monitor so I researched what models/brands would be a good substitute. I don't think this is quite as good as the Apple monitor but it's close enough for me (there are some Samsung monitors that supposedly are as good or better than the Apple one). I've had trouble buying monitors for Mac computers in the past - they never were as crisp and clear as the iMac. This one is VERY crisp and clear. And works flawlessly with the computer. I do wish it had built in speakers but I can live with having external ones. The USB ports on the back are also super handy since the Mac Studio seems to think you only need two. I definitely recommend this monitor!
Turn Eco Saving Plus Off!

I purchased the model with the USB C port hoping for a quick connection to an extra monitor when I am working from home. I am pleased to report that it works exactly as hoped. The USB C is a 65W supply that charges my laptop, so with a single cable I am ready to roll! I was super disappointed with the brightness of the monitor the day it arrived. It was dysfunctionally dim, despite every brightness setting being maxed out. I tolerated it for the day, assuming I would have to return the monitor. Scouring the settings that evening, I found the annoying culprit: "Eco Saving Plus" under the "System" menu. This setting evidently trumps functionality for ethereal green brownie points! After turning this feature off, the monitor became usable. I wish it was not the default, but at least for now control remains within reach. The time, effort, and frustration cost them a star.
perfect for the small home office

With the pandemic, we had to set up a small office in our living room. We don't have a big desk, so any larger monitor would be too big. This one has the perfect size to work up close, and having the notebook monitor as auxiliary for when you are in a call. The USB-C hub helped a lot reduce the cables -- it charges the notebook and provides the connection for the dongle of a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. I wish the hub was a bit more powerful, as it takes a long time to charge the computer when everything is on. That's fine if you keep it connected the whole time, but if you are disconnecting and using your laptop often, you may find yourself out of charge. The resolution is great, and it's not easy to find a large resolution for this size of monitor at this price point. It's really cool to fit multiple windows in the screen and still have a large enough font to read the contents.
Great Monitor -- Not so great Amazon

I just got another one of these for a total of two out of three monitors. Great video quality, and sufficiently large display. (I have them set for 1920x1080 even though they support up to 2560x1440) since I'm getting up there in years. The only problem was when it arrived from Amazon, it was clearly already opened and then re-taped, there was no plastic peel strips on anything, and it wasn't wrapped in plastic like it normally is (when it's actually new from Samsung). Very annoying since this was supposed to be a NEW monitor, NOT an opened box variant. Impressed with the monitor, not so impressed with Amazon.

Great picture, but bad light bleeding (SAMSUNG S60A Series 24-Inch WQHD).

UPDATE: Downgraded from 3 to 2 Stars. I have bought 5 of these monitors (one of them the USB-C variant), three are from other stores and two from Amazon, and each and everyone of them has the exact same defect: they all suffer significant backlight bleeding that is visible in dark or light environments. And each one I buy to replace another one is even worse. And like in my original review, I am very reasonable with some light bleeding on the edges, but this is really bad, it takes up entire sections of the monitor. Samsung really messed up these monitors which were promising, there is no way I will be buying any monitor from them again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The monitor itself looks nice, feels nice, very light, and very easy to assemble (it does require a screw driver). Took me about 5 minutes. The visual quality of the image is really good, excellent color, 2k resolution, good pixel density, and the options to refine the picture is plenty and very useful. I got the perfect image setup for me. While the monitor is nice, the biggest problem is the light/edge bleeding. It's very, very bad, especially if you work in an always dark mode, and in an always dark environment like I do. Unless I am looking at something with a light theme, everything else I do look at in dark theme (or something like a dark game or a movie), you can easily notice the very distracting light bleeding. Even worse is when I am coding and I need to see the CSS results that often appear lighter than it should; or when trying to do some Photoshop work and anything that's going to be dark around the edges will show light bleeding, creating this false gradient result. I think in a lighter environment, and if you're going to be general office work, staring at spreadsheets all day, this monitor could be good enough. But for someone looking for a serious monitor, I don't think this is it. The cost of this is way over priced for as much light bleeding as it suffers, even my 6 year old monitors don't suffer this much light bleeding. It's unacceptable, and I am actually very reasonable with defects like this. 3 stars overall because it really does produce a nice picture, and you need to decide whether or not the light bleeding bothers you. Attached is a picture of three of these same monitors I bought since I needed three for my setup. While I know taking pictures will show more non-uniformed lighting, I circled the areas in red to show what is visible with the naked eye. Yes, it's that bad.
Coil whine from backside USB hub; gone when connecting hdmi (vs dp)
By S.Kim - Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2021

Edit: The coil whine was because of the monitor's audio function. And NO, the coil whine didn't go away when I lowered the monitor's volume to 0. When I used a HDMI splitter that doesn't support audio with 75hz (which this monitor supports), the coil whine disappeared completely. This was a win for me, because I never use monitor speaker anyway. Overall good value for the money. The monitor supports both dp and hdmi versions for 75hz at 1440p. Not entirely sure why they have menu buttons at the bottom of the screen. If they wanted to keep the front of the monitor clean, they could've put the buttons at the side or something. Buttons at the bottom makes it harder to press them, not to mention having to check which button does what every time I press them (hard to remember, cause I don't press those buttons often). On the hardware side I didn't have any problem at first-no broken pixels, no asymmetry in lighting, etc. After a month or so I started getting an annoying sound from the back of the monitor. On a closer inspection, it seemed to becoming from the usb hub placed at the back. It sounded like it was a coil whine, similar to what you'd hear from a bad power unit. I tried troubleshooting methods like changing color, response settings and such but nothing worked. What worked for me was changing the connection from DP to HDMI; this completely removed the coil whine.
Great side monitor with HDR support

Had a buddy give me a 27" monitor for free a couple of years ago. It ended up going out, and I had gotten spoiled with having a second screen. So after it broke, the logical thing was to replace it with 3 screens. lol Wasn't my initial plan, but the monitors were 60%, so I was like "Buy 2 get one free". The 24" Samsung monitors work great, and work as expected. Great side monitors, and work great in my as side screen monitors in my driving/flying simulators. Only gripe is that it doesn't support the option for this screen display to turn off automatically when say a black screen saver is turned on the backlights of the monitor stay on, where as my main 43" Gigabyte monitor has the option for the screen to turn off, with sound still coming out. Other than that, great monitor for the price.
