This thing works like a charm, sadly I thought I was getting the extended pole version.

Finding reviews on this particular saw is not easy. In fact, when looking on Youtube, I thought I had found this saw in a good review, and based on that review I purchased this saw. Imagine my surprise when I realized that this was not the 13' extendable version, but only 8' solid shaft. It's my fault really, I should have spent more time reading the details. It's not like it wasn't in the title : ( But truthfully, I'm split on whether that was a good thing or bad thing. You see, this saw is pretty heavy. And I'm not sure I would have wanted the extra weight from the extendable pole. That aside. It's an awesome pole saw and does what it supposed to do with ease. But it is heavy. I'm a ex journeyman meat cutter, and and no small turkey. But put this thing out in front of you and trim a bunch of limbs and your gonna feel it. The harness is goofy and pretty much worthless. I almost sent it back when I first found out about the length, but after a good hour searching, you cannot find the extendable version anywhere. So I ended up keeping it. But doing my high palm trees with it are out of the question now. Don't get me wrong, it's a super high quality saw and works perfect and the batteries last a good while. It's everything Makita should be and is. No issues with that at all. It's just my fault that I didn't realize that this was not a longer saw. Too bad.

Chain tension slide pin broke within 3 hours of operation. Cut like a champ up until that moment. "Makita 347706-2 TENSION SLIDE"

I have 6 wooded acres to maintain with paths throughout. This makes my spring cutback chore a breeze! It is well balanced and powerful. Uses the same batteries I use for other Makita tools. I would purchase this again, no question. The batteries don't last quite as long as the reviews I saw before purchasing... but with two sets I never worry about running low.

Worked very well. Just received the saw today. Put two 4 amp our batteries in it and trimmed quite a few 4 to 5 inch branches out of an oak tree and still had a lot of battery charge left to go. Worked it maybe 30 minutes total just to try it out. The quality is definitely there. A bit pricey but worth the extra money. I have several Makita cordless tools that I work hard and they last. I push these to the max and the Makita tools can take a beating and still keep working.
Powerful and lightweight. Shorter reach than old gas pruner but it starts when I need it.

Did a lot of tree trimming all day, some limbs up to 3” diameter oak. Batteries lasted all day. Chain never came off. Nice size chain oiler tank. Makita makes good stuff. I love how their batteries work on all my Makita tools. Sometimes what the engineers don’t do is just as important as what they do. They haven’t fiddled with the battery design in a way that would prevent compatibility across their tools. The old gas power pruner that it replaces was longer, but was terribly heavy and would not run for very long between trips to the shop. You can get new carburetors but they don’t last long for some reason. So very happy to say goodbye to one more gas engine tool!
Love how it trims trees, a little bit heavy though.
