Reliable Product with Good Customer Support
By docmcr on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025
I bought and returned two others before settling on the Eufy X8 Hybrid. This one is a keeper. I have other Eufy products and they're reliable and user friendly, as is this Robo-Vac. The others I tried constantly crashed into things and got stuck under things and couldn't find their way from room to room. I had to spend so much time babysitting them I might as well have done it myself. Then came Eufy. It has mapping capability, so after a run or two it knows better than to crash into things and it easily and efficiently moves about the house. You might think you don't need mapping capability; trust me, you do. You might think you want a slimmer model so it can get under things. Trust me, you don't. The odds of it getting in and then not being able to get out again are too high. Just take a dust mop to clean under those things, go with the taller Eufy, and spare yourself the hassle. Unlike so many cheaper models, you can purchase no-go strips to keep the vac out of certain places. The app is easy to install, and easy to connect with Alexa. Unfortunately, you can only use Alexa to stop, start and pause (there may be way to do more commands but I haven't found it yet). But that's ok, because the app is very user friendly. You can see the map and instruct the vac to do only the room you want. The app lets you schedule cleaning also. Best of all, the app allows you to manually control the vac, a feature lacking on cheaper models. Trust me, you need that feature! The Eufy X8 Hyrbrid also has a mop function. You can control that via the app as well. Some of the other no-name brands you find online have zero customer support--so important for a major purchase like this! The last one I bought and returned didn't even give a support phone number, and the email address came back undeliverable! Eufy's website provides a direct customer support phone line, which they answer in a timely fashion and actually know how to help, as well as contact email address and online chat. Spend the extra $40 and go with Eufy. You'll be much better off.

Awesome cleaning and suction... When it actually works
By Tsukiakari on Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2023
Update update update: after just over a year, it started giving me this error at the end of each nightly run almost every night. It says that it's overheating and to check it. I'm pretty convinced that this is a software bug (or just a stupid design decision) at this point. After going back and forth with their support for several days, they sent me a replacement battery. The problem went away for a few days and immediately came back. The issue is that there isn't anything obviously wrong with it. I thought maybe it was just getting hot in the house but it is now winter and the house reaches 58 to 60°F at night sometimes and the error still occurs nightly. The problem is really that once it throws this error it stops. I find it on the charger, but I have to lift it off of the charger and set it back down for it to start charging. This shouldn't be a daily ritual. If I don't do that, it will never charge and never run the schedules again. Sometimes I forget and I remember after several days when I notice that it looks like the house hasn't been vacuumed. I'm getting tired of it. I'm probably just going to see about getting a warranty replacement with my extended warranty soon. Update update: Knocking off another star again. I finally took it into another room, and it messed up the map again. This room was nothing like the main area. Then I took it to a third room that was different again, and it still overwrote the original map. The mapping works...once. This could all be fixed if they would just add a "Create" and "Delete" option to the maps instead of this "smart" (read as: dumb) auto-room mapping feature that doesn't work. This is a widespread issue with a major feature. Search r/eufy for "x8 map" and you'll find tons of people having issues with it. Update: Eufy support sent me another vacuum like I had originally purchased, and it seems to work OK. I just haven't tried taking it into other rooms because I'm afraid it will screw up the mapping again. For this, I can only give it 3 stars. I hope for some software updates and enhancements in the future that can resolve these issues. Otherwise, the suction is awesome and it gets up a lot of cat hair and litter, and it's very efficient at cleaning. I have it cleaning a ~500 sqft. area nightly and it generally finishes in 40-50 minutes. ============== Original Review: I bought this on sale around black Friday when one of my older Eufy vacs finally had a wheel motor fail. (I ended up replacing that so now I have more robot vacuums!) This things sucks, like seriously! It picks up way more dust, dirt, and cat hair than the more "standard" and lower-end models. It's efficient in terms of pathing vs. the random bump around vacuums and can finish the whole ~500 sqft area in about 45-55 minutes with about half battery still left. Virtual boundaries and no-go zones work great when the map is set up properly. The "UltraPack Dust Compression" feature that packs it into the dustbin is pretty awesome too--it really does pack it in there and so it can go a bit longer before being emptied. In spite of replacing an older Eufy vacuum that ran daily also, it has still been picking up surprisingly large amounts of dust, debris, cat hair, and cat litter. But, I've had major issues with mine. It worked great until I tried moving it to another room. When I moved it to a different room on a different floor, it completely hosed up the map. Instead of creating a new one, it overwrote the one from downstairs and just got completely lost. There are two major issues with functionality: 1) You can't completely delete maps without factory resetting. You can work around this by selecting a second map and and turning off the multi-map function, which deletes the others. Then turn the multi-map function back on. 2) You can't tell it to use a specific map or to create a new map. It's supposed to figure this out on its own, but doesn't seem terribly capable of doing this and constantly erroneously overwrites maps, even when it hasn't been moved. Both of these issues seem somewhat simple to fix by adding those features to the app. When I contacted Eufy support about it, we did some troubleshooting steps and they decided that my unit was defective, so they arranged a replacement. The replacement worked well the first few times I ran it. Then I moved it to the room upstairs again, and it went haywire. The mapping mostly worked, but it started erroring out every few minutes saying that the rolling brush was stuck--it wasn't. This error seems to come up sometimes when the vacuum thinks it's stuck or lost somewhere, even if there is no issue with the rolling brush--it was clean and not stuck. Since then, I've tried all sorts of resetting maps, factory resetting, and continued troubleshooting with Eufy support. The rolling brush error subsided and when I delete the main map, it re-maps it correctly. But, after the first run and generation of the map, it messes it up again on subsequent runs. I've just escalated with Eufy support and they've offered that I return it for a refund. I really don't want to because I like it, I just need it to work properly. I don't necessarily need it to do multiple rooms/maps, but it would be good if it worked as promised. I suspect that either this unit is defective or there's something in my house interfering with the LIDAR. Note that I haven't used the mopping function, and I probably wouldn't until I were comfortable with the mapping because I don't need it to mop my carpet and rugs. I'll come back and update the review once we reach a resolution.
