Trash Limit and Directional Switch

Trash compactors have predictable failure modes. Usually the first is the gears under the unit break. These are easily replaced by laying the empty unit over and accessing her underthings. Simple handtools to R & R. (Don't over tighten the chain when reassembling. Installing new gear allows amount of tension on chain). The second most common failure is this switch. If the unit runs on, not shutting off, reaching the top of the cycle with a thump, thump, thump, it's usually this switch that failed. Two screws to pull off the front panel, then remove the top. Switch is readily accessible for R & R. Ten minute job (only need to pull the compactor out about 1/2 way to service. If the switch fails to fix, only other possibility is the front console switch assembly has failed. (Only held on by two screws). Fix it yourself and save money. Common tools only needed.
