Second review: Great little vac for whole house, with a couple of advisories
By LCB on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2024
We've been using this vac for a year and a half as our main house vac. Although we have a great plug-in canister vac, I got tired of schlepping it around, so I ordered this Shark to see what it could do. It has many PROS, and two potential downsides. PROS: 1. It is very light. Easy to pick up and maneuver in tight spaces. Also easy to use on carpeted stairs. 2. It folds flat, so I can catch all of the dust bunnies lurking under our bed. and furniture. 3. The upper half is removable so you.can use it without the floor attachment to reach into tight corners. 4. The floor/carpet attachment is pretty gutsy, There's a button on the handle that amps it up for rugs, etc. 5. The charging/attachment stand occupies little floor space. Easy to store. 6. Emptying is easy. Just pop off the upper wand (easy) and empty it in your waste bin. POTENTIAL CONS: 1. The battery life is relatively short, not enough for the whole house. I bought a backup battery on Amazon, and swap it when needed. 2. The dust collector is pretty small, so you have to empty it periodically if doing a large job. 3. Speaking of easy emptying...The empty latch is close to the power switch. Be careful not to push it during cleaning (Learned from experience!) FINAL THOUGHTS: We don't need our canister vac. This vac does everything we need. If you have a big house or wall to wall carpeting, you might need a heftier machine.

Always read the negative reviews, never trust the positive ones.

However, this is a positive review. I actually bought this vacuum, unlike other reviewers. Here's what I like. It has a charging base which makes sense, the plug is compact for behind furniture placement and the attachment for the base is underneath so again nothing to stick out but the cord. The handheld part can be charged while attached to the brush roll unit, or to the side as pictured with the nozzle and small brush attached. This also comes with a large brush attachment with 360 degrees of bristles, but it doesn't have a home on the base (c'mon shark.. you were doing so well with this so far) Still with me? The vacuum is rather quiet, much quitter than I expected. The filter inside is a conical mesh design and another secondary filter which I have yet to explore. Part of the fun of this vacuum at first is figuring out what buttons do what. I had to use the manual for a few. Expect to empty the dust bin after every use, however, I was impressed with the amount of cat fur it sucked up. Luckily you wont overfill the dust container because, as advertised, you're not going to be vacuuming for long. Make sure to charge it out of the box. Mine was at 1 bar (out of 3) With a full charge and running the brush roller I was able to make it around the bottom floor of my house and put it back on the charger with one bar left and the vacuum never slowed. I also like that the battery is removable so you could feasibly have more than one. The rollers on the brush head also feel very soft, unlike other hard plastic vacuum wheels which rattle across wood floors. There is also a kickback strip on the underside so nothing comes flying back at your feet (unlike its larger corded brothers which just redistributes the dirt as you vacuum) The only downside to this vacuum is the price, but its ease of use and simplicity make "grabbing the vacuum" effortless. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I just hope the battery holds up well over time and its a bit more reliable than its smaller handheld only cousin... again, read the negative reviews. 4.5 stars for this one. price and no where to put the second attachment points deducted.
