This was my FOURTH attempt at a docking station that would drive a couple external monitors. Every one I tried required the USB-C Alt mode enabled port, which evidently I don't have on my new Lenovo laptop. This one, however, comes with a very prominent note in the packaging to download and install the display drivers from Synaptics. Very simple and fast download on my laptop, plugged in the two monitors to the HDMI ports and voila... worked perfectly out of the box. I recommend don't go anywhere else and waste time like I did, this works beautifully.

This dock was intially plugged in to my laptop fan and it did indeed allow for thumb drives, ethernet connections, and additional usb devices to function. but i attempted to plug in my hdmi monitor and it started experiencing intermitent connectivity until I wiggled the docks connection enough. The monitor never functioned correctly though. When attempting to connect the dock directly to my laptop it did not provide enough through-power to even run the laptop fan and would not read thumb drives. Conclusion: this device is not rated to power very many devices simultaneously, not even a single monitor, despite having two hmdi ports. Therefore it fails as a dock.
