Just incredible. So much power in such a small package.
By A Customer on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2021
INTRODUCTION:I've read the other reviews, I didn't experience any of the issues these other customers are talking about. My unit is perfect. I don't know if that's fluke luck or if these reviewers are blowing smoke. Whatever the case...WORKSTATION SPECS & VOLTAGE:I have a 5950x and an RTX 3090 running primarily as a 3D V-Ray workstation inside a small, M-ITX form factor case. That requires some serious power, and my 800W SFX-L PSU just didn't cut it without having to limit the draw to both my CPU and GPU. The SX1000? No such trouble. Didn't have to undervolt anything. Everything "just works." My workstation can use up to 804W draw from the wall at full load, and the PSU is completely unaffected.NOISE:This PSU is incredibly quiet. I'd never noticed a PSU in my day to day, but the reviews here had me pay attention to it. I run at full load often, because I'm rendering in real-time daily. At night, I'm rendering scenes. After two weeks 24/7 consistent usage, I have had no issues whatsoever. The only noise I've noticed in my machine has been my GPU fan. The PSU is near silent.I'm going to double down on this. I record music on the Macbook in my office, I was surprised when my studio mic (Shure SM7B) picked up more sound from my brand new 16" Macbook Pro's fans than it did from my rendering machine.HEAT:My unit does not generate a significant or noticeable amount of heat, either. It's perfectly normal and what I've come to expect from Seasonic. My experience with Seasonic has been mostly positive, as I still use a Titanium Seasonic 860W ATX modular PSU on another workstation in my office going on 8 years with no issues.CABLES:My cables weren't stiff at all. They were quite flexible and bent exactly as needed in a small, small form factor PC. They weren't luxury braided cables but for how premium and impressive this little PSU is, I didn’t have a problem. However, I’d implore Seasonic to make official braided cables I could use with this PSU. I’d pay a premium for them, even.IN SUMMARY:In my personal experience I can with full confidence recommend this product. In fact I'd do more than that: it's an impressive technical achievement to stuff this much power into such a small package. It's the cream of the crop for SFF PCs.I'll update in six months and let y'all know how it's going, and soon I'll upload pictures of my build (still perfecting cable management).

Smoked itself and my new mobo
By SciMLandAI on Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2020
Just be clear, I bought this along with the office sleeved cables from Silver Stone on amazon.com.I also bought a new ASUS X570 ACE mobo to build a workstation.I have been building computers for myself for more than 10 years so I know what I am doing. Here is what happened.I put this new PSU in a Lian-Li Lancool mesh and connected it with my mobo, RTX 3090, two SSD, and two HDDs using the official sleeved cable. The first time I powered it one, I heard something and nothing happened. At that moment I was not sure if I actually hear anything because I had my noise cancellation headphone on. So tried again, then I clearly heard something popped from somewhere in my mobo. I immediately disassembled everything and tried the mobo with my Corsair SF750 PSU. Nothing happened! The mobo was smoked! Then I figured ok maybe the mobo was defective, but I did smell something burning from the PSU itself. Stupid I am I thought maybe that is what a Silverstone PSU smells like. So I connected this PSU with my other ASUS mobo using the unsleeved cables that came with the box. I turned the PSU on, and the PSU immediately smoked. I panicked and pulled the plug. I thought my second mobo was done too. But I tried it with my Corsair SF750 and I posted. The other day I put my RTX 3090 back to another build and luckily, the GPU worked too.I don't know what was the reason why the PSU blew up itself and my new mobo. But I do know I will stay away from anything silver stone in the future. Buyers be aware, do not assume you are safe with them so-called official sleeved cables.
