Biggest Reason for Us to Order was Safety
By Sandor Clegane on Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2022
My Wife and I had been looking at a variety of hoverboards for our Daughter to use. We were already familiar with Hover-1, in particular their electric scooters and dirtbikes. But knowing the brand and their track record for safety, it just made sense to choose their brand for our Little Girl's first hoverboard. Simply because we've seen way too many news clips and articles about cheap, offbrand hoverboards exploding or catching on fire. We don't want our house to catch fire in the middle of the night. And most important of all, we don't want our Daughter to use a potentially unsafe product. And we just can't trust most of these inexpensive hoverboards, we had to go with a recognized brand. Getting this hoverboard was an interesting experience for us, especially because I myself have never been on one before. I charged it up, read over all the instructions and safety precautions. One thing that I felt really comfortable about, was the way your child's feet can be positioned on the hoverboard. Getting our Daughter balanced on it was a bit tricky at first. Each side moves independently, as far as keeping your feet level. So I had to hold each side firmly in place until our Daughter was able to push the sides of her feet along the area that helps keep them balanced and level. We ended up practicing on an area of our land where we've got dirt that isn't too firm and hard. That way she could practice with it with her elbow pads, knee pads, helmet. But not take any risks like she would with the concrete slabs and driveways throughout our land. It's harder than it looks, to be honest. But the end result is worth it, once your child gets the hang of it. If you're looking for a good first-time user hoverboard, I'd say go with this one. Not just because of the design, how it's easier for smaller kids to use. But simply because this company doesn't have hoverboards catching on fire left and right like some less reputable brands.

Broke soon after purchase

I bought this hoverboard twice and it broke both times. Fortunately, I purchased insurance both times. The first board lasted around 6 months & my grandson loved it. The charging port broke. I bought the exact same board (this one) with the insurance & it broke as well. I won't be buying this particular board again.

The picture and product is correct but the description on the link is for the wrong product

The picture and the product is for the Rydon hoverboard but the title and description is for their electric scooter as it talks about a folding handlebar, top speed of 6 MPH, and range of 1.8 miles. The product is a beginner's hoverboard that goes about 4 MPH top speed and the batteries last about an hour or so while being ridden. We didn't time how long because my son would ride for a little while and then stop and do something else, so he never really rode the hoverboard for anywhere near an hour straight. The battery did run out twice while we were at the park on two different occasions so I would guess it was around an hour or less of ride time. The hoverboard is good for beginners because it's not too heavy nor fast and is a good board for young kids to learn to ride their first hoverboard. My son is just a few months past 5 yo and he was able to pickup riding the board after only two outings at the park. It does take around 4 to 5 hours to recharge the board when completely discharged. If your child is young e.g. 5 to 6 years old a good place for them to start is a nice grassy field that doesn't have tall grass as they can fall without a hard surface and the grass makes it easier to balance as the hoverboard resists movement. I can't speak to the long term durability or longevity of the hoverboard or the Li-ion battery inside the board as we've only had it just shy of two weeks. It's easy to charge and there's no setup for the board it comes preassembled with nothing that needs to be done other than charge it before letting your child ride the board. So far my son likes riding the hoverboard because it's a little more challenging than riding his bike or scooter and he has to concentrate on his balance. My 3 yo tried to ride the hoverboard after watching his older brother ride it on several outing to the park he was able to ride the board while holding my hand for balance. It's a good starter board to see if your child will like riding a hoverboard before purchasing a higher end model or a board with higher speed and longer range. I gave it five stars because it does everything I was expecting and so far we haven't had any issues with using or charging the board. If he continues to use the board over the long term I will update the review if we run into any problems or we don't run into any problems.

Small perfect for little ones but does feel fast at first once you get used to it. It doesn't feel that fast. Both lights from the sides are very bright and look cool. Feet have a good grip while using it but you do need to be careful since you're still able to fall.
Great for kids

This is a fantastic kid-friendly variation of the now familiar hover board. My wife bought me an adult-sized board for my birthday about 2-3 years ago, but my youngest kids couldn't use it because it seems to require a certain minimum weight to balance properly (it would just start vibrating maniacally when they tried). Enter this smaller version to save the day! Now my 9 year old and even 5 year old can ride it around the house and outside and alongside me in mine for some fun on the sidewalks. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how smooth it is for the price, it's quite a bit less expensive than mine was, and with a pretty low maximum weight, I figured it was just cheap. But it doesn't seem that way, I'm actually really happy with it and my kids love it! Just make sure you pay attention to the weight limit, get a bigger one if you're close to that limit already!

The Rydon hoverboard is ideal for a kid because it doesn’t go too fast so I feel safe with my 8 year old on here. Top speed of 6mph. She’s having a lot of fun! This one stands out because it’s lightweight and it folds!
