Roomba owner since 2002: This robot is shockingly better.
By Allen C. Huffman on Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2024
12/29/2024 Update: After some time with this robot, it is still working great. The app prompts when it's time to clean (wipe sensors, clean filter or replace parts). I just did the first cleaning of the bin and filter area (still 10 hours left on the original filter). I have a replacement part bundle waiting for when it's time to actually replace something. No issues other than the app messing up the map (twice so far) which is easily restored from a backup (the fact that they have backup as an option tells me this must be something they expect to happen). It also was having LDS (the spinning sensor part, I think) errors, solved by cleaning around that part. I am still blown away by how much stuff this picks up compared to every model Roomba I have had. I bought the very first Roomba model when it came out, and have been using various models of Roombas ever since. I have three currently, with the newest one being a self-emptying S9+. This Yeedi is so much better, so let me get the only negatives out of the way first: 1. The C12 Pro Plus is listed as being able to climb over a .7" bump. My threshold between hallway to kitchen is more than that, and the C12 gets stuck there. Sometimes it will make it over, but it won't go back (probably a cliff sensor reacting to the black rubber transition strip we hav there). Workaround: A mall mat. After that, no issue. (Roomba can make it over this, but two other non-iRobot 2. The C12 has multiple levels of vacuuming power. On the highest level (a tornado icon), it pulls up the light throw rugs from the kitchen floor and gets stuck on them. It has no issues with any of the heavier throw rugs. Workaround: Yeedi lets you adjust the suction power by zone, so I just dropped down the power when doing the kitchen. After that, no issue. (Roomba has no issue with this, probably due to its much weaker suction.) Everything else is far superior to any of the iRobot devices I have had -- even one that cost twice as much as this Yeedi! Epic features: 1. The station uses a bagless bin that the robot empties in to. Not only does this save money (no bags to by) but you can easily see when it needs to be emptied. It gets handfuls of pet hair and fluff every time, even after the Roomba has been ran. 2. The mapping is so fast. It just drives around while the little spinning sensor on the top (Lidar? maybe?) figures out where the walls are. The map it produced was much more accurate! It also figures out where rugs are and represents them on the map after a job. 3. The app shows the route the Yeedi took! If you set it for 1-pass, you see a smart zig-zag pattern. When you set it for 2-pass, you will see it does a criss-cross pattern. While vacuuming, the app shows where the robot is in realtime. Fascinating to watch! 4. The robot has a pop-off side brush for easy cleaning. No need for a screwdriver! And, I have yet to find a bundle of hair under it, like the Roomba seems to do after every few cycles. 5. The brushes have some kind of magic. The Roomba needs regular cleaning where you remove the brushes and pull balls of hair from each end, and cut strands that have wrapped around the brush. After 30+ hours of using the Yeedi (in a two pet household), not once have I had to do that. HOW is this possible? 6. The app lets you send it to just a specific room, or tap multiple rooms just to do them. Current higher end Roombas have this feature, but the Yeedi app makes it much easier to actually use. ...and so much more. The unit backs in to the dock, announcing that it is charging, then emptying the bin, then will resume after that. It navigates very well, around objects, slowing down before hitting things. Whatever they are doing, it is very advanced and not at all what I had expected from a brand I have never heard of. And it mops. I have an iRobot Baava robot mop that has an advantage of being much smaller (it will fit between the toilet and the wall). The Yeedi has a mopping bin (remote the dust bin, fill the mop bin with water and plug it in). It does not use special pads (it comes with two Velcro-on reusable pads). It does not do any soap -- just water -- so the Braava might be doing a better job. BUT, after letting it run one time, the pad came back dirtier than I've ever seen the Braava's. The mop also vibrates as it goes, much more intensely than the tiny Braava. GREAT SUPPORT: I have written their support a few times, asking about issues with the threshold (they suggested the mat) and the carpets (lower the suction). They have been very helpful with suggestions, and respond within day. I went in to this highly skeptical that it could be any good. At half the price of a high end Roomba, I expected half the quality. After 30+ hours in use (then the app teaches you where to wipe down with a cloth to clean sensors!) I am not 100% convinced this is the best vacuum robot I have ever had. (I do not have enough experience with robot mops -- but have owned the Scooba and Braava.) I think that's all I have to say. I am blown away by how good this unit works. If they could make it handle larger thresholds, that would remove my only real nitpick. Kudos to Yeedi.

Worst robot ever!!!! BEWARE!
By Brody Kay Winston on Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2024
This is the worst robot ever. Each time you go to use it, it is off-line. The app is nonfunctional. You have to uninstall and delete all information, including the app then reinstall the app and the robot each time. I did contact the company because the robot will also not hold a charge after the third day. It is dead. I have made sure that it is in a proper outlet. I have used other outlets and it will not hold a charge. The vacuum cleaner had approximately 21 hours of use when I contacted the company with the above complaints. They did send me a replacement. The replacement I just received. It has less than three hours of use on it and guess what…. Problems! The first use it worked as I thought it should. This is my first experience with a robot vacuum. There was hair caught in the roller. The ad states no hair tangles. This is untrue as I had to remove and clean the roller. (I vacuumed my house prior to using the robot so there was very little hair on the floor. ) Very little dirt is picked up because the roller holds a wad of dog hair preventing other debris to go into the dirt bin. Again, this roller is advertised as good for picking up pet hair. It is not! You have to manually empty the bin in the robot, flip it over to remove the roller to remove the wad of hair. This occurred after I used a shop vac and manually washed all my new vinyl floors to do a deep clean a day before using this robot. Once hair removed, put everything back together and try to resume the process of cleaning. The second day of use is today. I used it 2 days ago and Vacuum is off line. Due to previous experience with the first YEEDI, I remembered I had to delete the app in order to get the vacuum back on line. So, I have to now delete the app and all information and reinstall the app. Take my camera on my phone to scan the scanning label in the robot. Put everything back into the app: my email, my country, etc you name it in order to use it. So, now I’m set to use it for a second vacuum cleaning. I’ve not dared to try the washing feature…. So the robot will go in a couple straight lines in a normal rectangle room and then all of a sudden it will veer on a diagonal Like it’s lost then it will come back and then it will do another diagonal across the room like it’s gone haywire. It has difficulty finding its home. It will go to several rooms looking for its home. Even when you place the vacuum within a foot of its homebase, it still runs through two rooms and a hallway trying to locate its home. Back to the diagonal, you don’t know when it’s going to veer off so do not be anywhere near this because it will run over your toes. It does not have a device apparently good enough to know that something‘s in front of it. It’s run over my toes. It has run over my dog’s toes, causing him to yelp. Buyer beware!! I have requested the company for a full refund. I will send this one back as it is also non-functioning. The app is absolutely terrible. I will update once I hear back from YEEDI. In the meantime, I will be buying a different brand which I should’ve bought a better name brand. Sorry Yeedi, but you do not deserve my money.
