Works like a champ! It was the update to my 2008 Mac mini. I can use ai now! Cons: lost some apps that won’t run on the new chip. I lost all my adobe stuff. Garage band didn’t come with it. I have to buy a digital interface to record my guitar now. Had to get a converter and run my monitor off the usb-c slot because hdmi didn’t work. Bought the stand below to plug in my external toys. Pros: can run all the new ai stuff and do video work. Has a great price with the 512gb drive. Fast. Warning, you will have to upgrade a lot of things that you are using right now so prepare to do the downloads and installs and buying some new apps. It will do the job though. Five stars just cause I love Apple.

Display Issues with Thunderbolt

I recently received my Mac Mini M1 (January 7, 2020) and it has issues described by many on the web with waking up after the monitor goes into standby while using the thunderbolt. My monitor is a LG 34WL850-W 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide® WQHD Nano IPS Monitor with Thunderbolt™ 3. No update yet from Apple fixing this issue. Even if I remove the option for the Mac to go to sleep, I noticed that it will respond turning on the monitor but in a few seconds it will then display that no signal is detected and goes back to sleep. In order to get it back to work I need to disconnect and reconnect the thunderbolt cable. Meanwhile if I use instead the HDMI port it doesn’t have any issue. I believe there’s some sort of problem with the communication of the thunderbolt in the Mac Mini M1 as it also being reported to have some sort of speed issues using external SSD HD with this type of port. Will highly recommend to wait purchasing until all the issues are corrected.
